Nike Talk, a gigantic buying and selling Facebook Group that peaked at over 40,000 members was shut down last night unexpectedly. The group, which is the past few months went from being a reliable place to buy and sell to the Wild West of the sneaker community, became infested with scammers, trolling accounts, and most recently rampant pornography. The group's deletion was the work of several admins, who felt that the best way to combat the group's reputation was to shut it down completely and start fresh.

It went from being a resource to buy/sell/trade to a place for kids to troll/burn free time while contributing nothing. Good.

RELIABLE?

Every other post was about someone getting scammed.

And it was infested with stupid nonsense. To be honest, that group was effing annoying. Im glad its gone.

OP, you do you know that that group was in no way, shape or form affiliated with this website, right?

You had to be silly to think that page had anything to do with this site.
Also to do a transaction was a big risk by mail.
But it was full of jokes.

It was the closest thing to h dtalk.

It's about time.  We can launch an official one - we've had an account reserved since 2010 - I just struggle to come up with reasons why it's worth the effort.

I can understand why a bakery would like to have a Facebook page.  I have no idea why an online niche community needs to have a Facebook page.

Now would be the time, though, as there's less opportunity for confusion.  If anyone out there is interested in such a thing:  give me a reason to give a damn.

I believe they made a 2nd one already though even though i know it dont affiliate with this website

To me its just like the community of Nike talk , but on a much larger scale. These are people that check the site for continued sneaker information and are there to connect with others. As someone who has both sold and bought shoes off that group, the group had an extremely large audience. It made it a lot easier to get listings out there. The fact that it was a haven for scammers speaks to the fact that it needed proper moderation.

If we do get that group back I'd like to help patrol it

We absolutely would not allow it to be used for listing items.  There'd be no way to efficiently screen items and we're not going to invest that kind of time into helping people who aren't even members of the community on pages monetized by Facebook.  So, that's a nonstarter for us.

I was a part of the group until I realized it was full of kids and scammers.

I'm glad it got shut down though, as I never liked how they used the NT name.

On a serious note though, I'm not sure how it would affect us on this side, if it would make it better or worse. It would be cool but I have reservations about it.

Everytime I try to report meth, I get an error message.

Hadn't looked in there in a long time.

Nothing of real value for me in there.
