LeBron James will debut the Nike Zoom Soldier III on the court tomorrow when Cleveland takes on Detroit. Designed with James' playoffs needs in mind, the Nike Zoom Soldier III is the lightest shoe designed for James, to date, with this Nike Zoom Soldier series becoming LeBron's perennial playoff footwear.
"A basketball player's body takes a beating over the course of an 82 game season," said Design Director Ken Link. "The Nike Zoom Soldier III is designed to give LeBron a lightweight, responsive shoe for the playoffs, when every game counts."

Constructed to be lower to the ground and extremely responsive, the Nike Zoom Solider III weighs in at a mere 13.7 ounces, the lightest basketball shoe Nike has delivered to LeBron James, to date.

The Nike Zoom Soldier III features a mesh upper for lightweight breathability. Two synthetic-leather straps across the top of the mid-foot provide a stable, lock-down fit and add the stylish look. The mid-sole is comprised of Nike Zoom Air units in the heel and forefoot for lightweight, responsive cushioning. A non-traditional solid rubber outsole provides unmatched traction and durability.

Link added, "LeBron challenged us to make the Zoom Soldier III even lighter than ever and we delivered. The shoe is also a great summer hoops shoe. It's both lightweight and strong, so it's able to withstand the pounding of outdoor play."

The Nike Zoom Soldier III features a badge on the shoe's tongue comprised of symbols that borrow meaning from LeBron's life and personal beliefs.
Limited quantities of the Nike Zoom Soldier III with LeBron's playoff badge on the tongue will be available to consumers in limited quantities. Nike will feature additional player-exclusive styles with the special badging for the playoffs.

Carrying on a tradition from the previous generation, the Nike Zoom Soldier III represents the essence of LeBron James: team, toughness, passion and vision. On the sockliner is LeBron's credo for family and his pride for the game of basketball. On the back of the tongue is an image of a lion, representing LeBron's aggressiveness on the court. LeBron's signature is included on the heel of each shoe and his number 23 adorns the tops of the eyelets.

The Nike Zoom Soldier III will be available globally at select retail locations beginning April 17, 2009.

the all black look ok...but i'll echo da sentiment of what some others have said....the zoom power's when they were scrapped as the 6'sshould've been the new soldiers

my thoughts are why buy these when the lebron 3's look reeeaaalllllllyyyy dam close. i know throughout the course of a collectionyou'll have similarities, but to me these are just too similar. i'll probably cop, but only if he has a killer playoff performance in a pair orsomething like that. otherwise i don't see me even blinking at em.

do these have full-length Zoom? If so, they're an instant cop!

And I think they look like a new and improved (Zoom, straps, and materials) version of the Nike Air Max Enforcer, which is one of my favorite ball shoes of alltime. Can't wait!

I'll probably grab a pair of one of the themed ones (Dunkman or HS teams like CTK or Fairfax) but its hard for me to get excited about these.

Likewise..Dunkman's for me....and possibly.a CTK or SVSM here and there...

i do know these have the cushlon midsole and i believe heel and forefoot zoom...so they'll be light, although they may look heavy.

Are they going to release a version WITHOUT Straps too?

These would need to be a Performance MONSTER for me to try them out. The Outsole and Midsole dont look too appealing to me at all.

I was actually thinking about getting them and cutting off the straps. This shoe looks real good in other angles...the catalog pics don't really do themcomplete justice.

These aren't as good as the 1's but its definately a step back in the rightdirection after the 2s

I'd cop the Crimson...hope they release a SVSM,Dunkman and a USA colorway

the 2's were hella comfy. the only draw back on them was the lebron logo right in the middle of the shoe and the loose fit around the collar (why theyadded a set of eyelets on later models). other than that they were great shoes. the 1's are still the best though. one of my favs from the whole LBJ line.
