I have NO idea at all.

I have no idea how much I'm expected to pay, or how to assemble any computer parts. I just want something that I can rely on to store 500 GB of files, run programs quickly, and burn CDs and DVDs. Help point me in the right direction.

hard drive
computer case
video card
motherboard with cpu
memory
modem
keyboard
mouse
monitor

do you see yourself playing games, heavy video editing, or having many programs opened at once

I got a new PC recently and the place I bought it from only charged me $80 (spent about $800 altogether) to put mine together and install the OS and all thedrivers.

I thought that was worth it.

just make sure to ground your self before touching any of the computer parts its really easy only takes about an hour to hook up the computer than another 3hours to install windows and stuff.

just follow your manuals and since you got a computer to post on NT just have it opened on Google im sure there is an eHow on how to assemble a computer

I forgot to mention I just built a PC last week. Took me all day to build. That includes putting the parts together and cable management. HSF gave me the mosttrouble

. For the most part though, its pretty easy. The only problemsyou could possibly run into is the HSF and parts arriving DOA. You also gotta have a little luck and hope your parts aren't dead. I was lucky enough foreverything to work on the first boot.
