NT, In your opinion, Which factors decide where a person is from?

The spectrum seems wide.
Wale was born and partially raised in DC, but people out DC don't claim him because he moved to MoCo (Maryland).

Pac lived in NY from birth until around the age of 15, but he repped Cali.

Flocka lived in Queens until like 12, but he reps Georgia.

Joe Budden lived in Queens until 12, but he reps Jersey.

Which factors do you think decide where a person is from?

I was born in Germany, lived in GA since I was 3 so I claim GA

Born in Montreal,grew up in Boston so I claim Boston. Think it's more of where someone grew up then where they were born.

I lived/grew up in Marietta, Gerogia and buffalo, New York when people ask me where I'm from I say Buffalo, New York I don't have anything against GA I just didn't have that connection with GA sometimes I even forget all about even living there so I guess people rep the place they had a connection and memories with

I think where you're from is where u were raised to be a man or woman (middle, and highschool etc.)

But say if u moved from like NY for example at like 12

but u still have grandparents, aunts and uncles etc. who still live in NY

and u continue to go back and visit and such

Then you're from NY

I'm from Staten Island and move to Va when I was 12. My family is still in NY, and I probably visit once a month, just to chill. I consider my self from NY though most of my formative years were spent in Va.
