Mystic river is a pretty good book. Unless you've already seen the movie.
Also, Requiem for a dream

Read "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett if you haven't already. Yes, the one that's now a movie.

Oh and my personal fave "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. Talk about writing.

One of my favorite novels. You should check out the film as well, really solid.
Yeah my old co-worker used to hype up the book to me and I finally got around to reading it

As soon as I finish it, I'm going to check out the film

It's a really good book but the movie is better. Its actually one of the few times this is actually the case but even the author agreed that the movie was better.
