Seemed like one of the last places really representative of old New York. Looks like something straight out of a Ninja Turtles Comic :nthat:

Ive heard it closed and re-opened under new ownership looking like a Chucky Cheese :smh:

NY NTers familiar with the place... what can you tell me about it ?

the place was a dump but there was nothing else like it
they reopened recently but it's not the same, they replaced all the great cabinets with crap like skee-ball and crane games

Man I love arcades. The only place that I could kind of compare that to is Santa Monica pier arcade, but is mostly new games there. I still love it tho.

I was born in 86 so I grew up with these old school arcades. that's how my love for fighting games started. Dat feel when you pull off a nasty combo that youve been learning on your opponent..the random competitive challenges with complete strangers... :smokin and when the new fighters drop people would crowd around and watch you play in awe, those were the good ol days.

Chinatown Fair was is the spot.  Been going there since '91, was there when odb taped the brooklyn zoo remix vid there.  If you loved old school arcade games, then it was the spot.  Especially fighting games.  Haven't been since they converted it into a new spot.

Ninjahood, Playland. Really? I forgot all about playland.  That was my spot too.  I pulled my first fatality on mk there.  I was so amped when I did it.

There was 2 more arcades.  One across the street from winter garden theater and the one in penn station.

peter pan in bayside queens just closed down.

in the lower east side/alphabet city there is a bar arcade there..pretty good. not to be confused with The Barcade in brooklyn, place is huge but games are wack.

They closed Peter Pan?

Damn, that sucks butt.

I always wanted to go visit this spot in china town, never had the chance.

Back in the day it was the arcade they had in green acres mall.

I hate that arcade culture has died. We had so many great arcades in NYC when I was a kid. Shout out to Playland, Neo Crash, Chinatown Fair, etc.

Damn i miss it.

Me and my boy used to get dumplings from Tasty Dumplings then head over to the arcade.

I remember there being a lot of gothic/emo kids in there

I feel bad for those who don't truly know what an arcade was. You can replicate it sort of now, but it was just one of those "you had to be there to know" kind of things.

old school arcades are supposed to be dumps..thats part of da charm.

shout out to my old heads who used to be at "playland" in time square

open air market for hookers, crack/coke sales & street fighter II

is playland the place that had laser tag in there also?

Negative... Laser tag didn't exist when that spot

Was on.

wasn't Q-zar the spot for laser tag back in the day?
