Im grabbing Davante Adams for sure late. I honestly think 3 packer receivers hit 1,000 yards a piece.

So I got the number 2 pick in my league

The guy in front me is going Murray

So I basically have the #1 pick

I can't decide between Lacy, AP, and Charles

    Honestly I like all 3

Was thinking about swapping draft positions with the guy who has pick 4

    How many teams?

I did a simulation with the #2 pick, 10 team, I loved that position because you'd essentially get 2 picks in a row

What are people's opinion on Bell regarding the suspension. If he wasn't suspended would he still be some of your #1 picks or is he not on that level

    10 man

I feel like if you take Bell you most likely will lose week 1 and 2

I would only take him in the first round if I had pick 10

If Bell wasn't suspended he is my #1 guy

I'm hoping he is still there in the second round of my draft

Nice, yeah I'd run simulations on the #2 and #4 picks to see what sort of teams you end up with. With #2 you wouldn't get the back to back every round, it would be every other round

Even still the simulations I ran I was still ending up with two great backs.. and there's so many high upside WR's you'll get some regardless. I'm focusing on getting two sure fire backs this year. Last year I lucked out with my RB2 off waivers (Forsett and some other free agent pick ups)

Technically you would select, then two teams would select then you'd get another selection. Not a true back to back but pretty much. And that would only be every other round. On the round you don't get it, you would wait a while before your next pick. I'm OK with that though

I have the 12th pick in my main league.

Its a 12 team keeper league.

I am more than likely keeping ODB (depending on his health) for a 12th round pick.

I am really debating going WR/RB or WR/WR with my first two picks. I always go RB/RB every year but it seems when i come back around for the 3/4 round back to back pics there are good RBs still on the board.

Plus with a WR core like D Thomas, D Bryant and ODB it will be a beastly receiver core based team.

    Thoughts?

    I agree

I feel like there are no good RB's

The only guys I think are safe are

    AP
    Charles
    Lacy
    Lynch
    Bell

    CJ Anderson
    McCoy
    Morris
    Forsett

Anderson and McCoy both have top 5 potential.

Morris and Forsett will probably end near top 10.

Any one else think Julio Jones is going to EXPLODE this year?

only one on that list i'd even consider is shady and even then I'm not crazy about him.

rather gamble on melvin gordon and tj yeldon than those guys.

Forgot to add Jeremy Hill to my list

I dunno about those guys. They might make excellent in season pickups but I wouldn't throw anything higher then 7th round pick at this point.

CJ Anderson has RB guru Kubiak as a coordinator now and Shady is going to be a workhouse + all 3rd down and goaline work.

    I agree with CJ Anderson

McCoy maybe there are a ton of RB's in buffalo including Fred Jackson

I'm a DC fan and they are talkinh RBBC for Morris

    Forsett should be ok

Jones needs to play 16 games first

Been taking Hill and D thomas with my 1/2 picks.

CJ is being kept and I am on the not trust McCoy train.

If Forte is still there then id take him.

love Jeremy Hill this year, gonna try to get him as my RB2

i don't trust CJ Anderson enough to draft him....that Broncos OL is a mess.

Forsett's age concerns me but he hasn't had the workload of a normal 30 year old RB, i'd take a chance on him

Rex is gonna give McCoy a ton of carries, i'm not worried about the other RB's in Buffalo taking carries from him like in Philly.

I guess i could just see F Jax taking work from McCoy like he has done year after year. Goallines too.

Rex relying on his defense has me worried too.

Quarterback woes on top of that.

Maybe im just soured from last years performance. Short memory is the key but its hard.

McCoy is sitting there usually when my 12th pick comes up. I usually pass him up for Hill probably because last year Hill beasted for me.

damn yall really putting that much faith into rookies?

i rather have ellington & randle over gordon or yeldon, or even crowell later on. Maybe even Tre Mason.

The only thing the rookies have right now is that their going to be starters since the other RBs on their teams are pretty bad. I never liked Gordon tbh and that jacksonville offense is a dump. Also, Yeldon looked the same to me from his freshmen year to his last season at bama.

Regarding the receiver vs running back early debate.

I employ what I'd call "RB Lite". It's not quite RB zero but has a similar premise.

What I do is this, the first two rounds I go RB/WR or WR/RB, depending on where I'm at in draft order and the best player available.

Then I follow with receiver/receiver in the 3rd and 4th (in leagues that start 3 receivers, if not I go either WR/RB or RB/WR).

Then I normally take one of Kelce, Olsen or Bennett or a QB in the 5th or 6th.

Which leaves me with late round backs such as Crowell, Ivory, Tre Mason & Doug Martin all of who I am fine with pairing with my early round RB1.

I also like rookies like Duke Johnson, David Johnson, David Cobb as well.

The reason I prefer securing my receivers early is because I believe consistent receivers are far more scarce on the wire. Last year the wire produced Odell Beckham Jr, Brandon Lafell, Mohamed Sanu, and Martavis Bryant (and in the leagues he wasn't drafted in, Jordan Matthews) whereas the wire produced running backs like CJ Anderson/Ronnie Hillman, Justin Forsett, Isaiah Crowell, Tre Mason, Matt Asiata, LeGarrette Blount/Jonas Gray, and Denard Robinson.

And in years past, this disparity in positional scarcity between receivers and running backs was even more pronounced because there was no transcendent talent like Odell Beckham Jr just falling from the sky mid-season.

Fantasy football players seem to suffer from recency bias and many have a hard time keeping scope of history beyond one or two seasons.

Fact is, running backs go down at a higher clip than receivers. Backfields also tend to be more fluid situations as some depth chart competitions run from the pre-season right into the regular season.

Yes running backs generally score more than receivers, yes having a 3 down back with no competition is great, having multiple 3 down backs is fantastic.

At what cost though? I'd rather anchor my team with two top-flight receivers who will likely remain healthy and have a vice grip on their job all year.

Yes do some receivers get hurt? Absolutely, but running backs go down at a higher rate, it's just the nature of their position.

Again if you're in a 2RB/2WR/Flex league, there's nothing wrong with going RB/RB/WR/WR or RB/WR/RBWR, it's probably the best course of action (I myself prefer RB/WR/WR/RB, especially with Gurley going in the 4th round). However in 2RB/3WR no flex leagues I believe wholeheartedly that loading up on high-end receivers is the way to go.

    This graph illustrates my point.

I say go mock, try it. See how you like your team at end. Generally my strategy requires taking a QB late so you'll be passing on guys like Rodgers, Luck, Peyton, Wilson, Big Ben, and Brees. I generally pass on Cam (though I take him when he slips), Romo & Ryan as well as my strategy requires one being disciplined enough to address the skill-positions first.

I'm a believer in value QB's like Eli (though his ADP is rising), Tannehill, Rivers & Stafford and sometimes pair 2 of those 4 together. Pairing one of those guys with an upside come-back player type pick like Bradford, Kaepernick, Cutler & RG3 is an option as well.

So there you go, that's my RB-lite strategy and my take on receiver vs running back early.
