And I got a seat in the house :pimp: If you see a chocolate Adonis whipping an M3 behind the Knicks bench with 3 dimes making out in the backseat, it's me.

The reason it took the Kings so long to rebuild isn’t because they were unlucky, it was because they were inept. The last few years of the Maloof regime they overrode Geoff Petrie. In 2011, Petrie wanted Klay Thompson, the Maloof‘s forced him to draft Jimmer. In 2012, Petrie wanted Damian Lillard but the Maloofs forced him to take Thomas Robinson. When Vivek bought the team in 2013 he brought in Pete D’alessandro who disregarded Petrie’s advice of taking Giannis and they took Ben McLemore. In 2014 instead of hiring true basketball minds they crowd sourced fan analytics and chose Nik Stauskas with that information.

It only started to turn around in 2015 when Vivek smartened up and hired Vlade To oversee basketball operations. Even then, he was mocked for every move until the kings started winning games this year.

The same can really be said about our FO.

Outside of last offseason, the FO has made questionable move after questionable move. Seems like now, they actually have a feel for what they're trying to do. The Kyle signing was pretty damn good IMO and he's a guy that can grow with JJJ. Easy to insert him in spots and let him handle the ball. Excellent defender. Even the trades they made were decent considering who they gave up.

The same person who was making the decisions between 2011-2017 aren't making them now. At least that's how it seems. We've seen smarter moves, a better draft (thus far), now Conley/Gasol trade talks all within 1 year. The pecking order of decision making definitely changed recently.

All in all, its not easy rebuilding in the NBA for small markets. You have to land big on one of your draft picks first and foremost, but after that you still have to make smart decisions to ensure your drafted star/superstar has talent around him. Once you have that, then I would suggest getting that coach you need. We've swapped out coaches so much before even understanding where we going.
