Getting questions where Vaccaro fits for Miami. I go back to the 4 big weaknesses in Miami’s defense: 1) poor pass defense in BASE personnel (26th of 32), 2) poor run defense in NICKEL personnel (30th), 3) poor 3rd & Long defense (32nd), 4) poor red zone TD allowance (30th)

Kenny Vaccaro at this stage of his career is essentially a slot defender. He gets into trouble when he does other things. You could almost think of him as a replacement for Alterraun Verner, albeit a much better run defender.

What that means to me is Vaccaro can be put in the slot on some Nickel packages where down/distance/situation do not dictate pass, and he can strengthen the Nickel run defense in certain situations. That could impact weakness #2.

There’s also reason to believe Kenny Vaccaro could be especially effective as a slot defender in the red zone. Using him in that capacity could therefore also impact weakness #4. I’m sure he would have to compete for any role he ended up being given, but this could be the vision.
