So apparently Graham Harrell’s gore was spurred on by a donor/message board reader who reached out to the admins and Lynn.

So some asked why the same can’t be done with urban. The response from an sc insider:

“Well, in Meyer's case, it's totally different. That's a well-known name and Matt Leinart specifically has been a catalyst in getting him connected with USC. Urban is to Matt what Clay was to Marcus Allen or Lane was to Keyshawn Johnson. Is that enough? No, no it isn't. You have to get Rick Caruso, Wayne Hughes, Ed Roski and a few others in a room together with Urban Meyer to make things work. You can't just write a check, hand it over to the administration and say, "Get it done." No, no, no. At UCLA, Chip Kelly was hired without the involvement of the AD. The administration was basically given the details after the deal was made. I'm afraid the same would have to be done at USC, although the AD could actually be useful in this instance. Read up on how Phil Knight does things at Oregon. He follows through and makes sure his donations are used efficiently.
It essentially comes down to a matter of the money guys deciding they're not bowing down to the efforts of the board. "Do you wanna take our buyout/new coach offer or keep the current course and lose our investment?" The big dollar guys have so much sway on how the board members ultimately end up voting. Not to mention any pressure outside of that on the President (who ultimately yays or nays the votes), Chancellor or other board members. It really comes down to who has money and who cares about/follows football (which is undoubtedly one of the biggest problems in most of CA, no?).

Granted the process probably works differently at a private university like USC, but I could only imagine the insiders having much more pull there than they do at public universities.

I didn’t even realize that Pac 12 refs gave matt Fink an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for dropping the football after his TD run and not handing it to the ref elpablo21 elpablo21

247 writer was saying pac12 refs complain that they’re graded down and given fewer assignments by the conference if they don’t call everything, even if later it’s shown to not be a flag.

Jeremy Pruitt was really on his "F*ck 12" steez. He exhibited the type of confidence that only rich white men feel. "Why do you have to arrest him? because he has a warrant?"

Which one of you Noles, Dawgz, Tide fans was this on your burner account?

Yeah that **** was stupid. They called one on Udub the score before too

Smart first step
For Pac-12 fans monitoring USC’s search for an athletic director — and everyone should be; it’s a big deal for the conference — we’ll make note of a significant development:

The Trojans have retained Turnkey Search to lead the effort to replace Lynn Swann.

The final decision will be made by university president Carol Folt, with an assist from her search committee (and some influential donors, undoubtedly).

But the executive placement firm of record plays a vital role in framing the process, sketching the desired model and identifying the top candidates.

In this case, the news is quite positive for the Trojans and the Pac-12.

Turnkey doesn’t mess around with ex-jocks who have no administrative experience.

The firm is well-regarded within the college sports industry and has placed several high-profile positions.

“Big names will be pursued” by USC, an industry source told the Hotline.

Turnkey ran the Michigan search that landed Warde Manuel.

It ran the Nebraska search that landed Bill Moos.

It ran the Alabama search that landed Greg Byrne.

It has run searches at Georgia Tech and Tennessee and Minnesota.

In each case, the end result was decidedly inside the box: The school appointed an experienced collegiate administrator.

There are no guarantees that will be the case this time — USC’s decades of hires and misfires suggest some degree of clamoring for a member of the Trojan family who played one of the skill positions.

But it’s difficult for the Hotline to imagine that a firm as respected as Turnkey would have taken the search without assurances from Folt that a traditional candidate was her preference.

(Traditional for everyone else, not for USC.)

The Trojans must appoint an athletic director who understands the landscape, can clean up the mess left by Swann and is capable of solving the football equation.

The process starts with a pool of qualified external candidates — candidates who have run major college athletic departments and aren’t beholden to the USC way.

(The Hotline believes there’s an obvious choice in the upper right corner of the conference.)

The decision to use Turnkey greatly reduces the likelihood that the Trojans will end their search by introducing Keyshawn, LenDale or Marcus. — Jon Wilner.

Former #1 WR (2016) Jody Lewis, out of jail and in JuCo. Don’t be shocked to see ASU snatch him up next year.
