Whether Mayweather and Ward had more impressive careers is irrelevant.
Canelo started his career at Welterweight and has won belts at every weight class up to LHW.

And in most of those he would win at a catchweight asking bigger guys to fight below the weight threshold that the belt is at. The one time where he didnt ask for any concessions bivol beat him down not weekend by a weight limit and pay day.

GGG would have most likely lost that fight, but he never ducked Ward.
When GGG first wanted that fight, Ward told him no because of all his legal drama, and then when Ward finally sent over a offer it was BS.
That fight would have never happened because Ward would have never accepted he was the B side, even though he had to paper crowds in his home town to get people to see him fight.

to me, a build up is good as long as they’ll eventually meet in their prime
like the bivol v beterbiev, those two clashing seem inevitable but the spence v crawford fight looking less and less likely to happen
