i got this shirt when the lava's released, and its quite laughable. it was the shirt that released w/ the lava's but for some reason didn't match at all,( lava color was dark pink, not lava by any means) they didn't even use the correct logo.(the ball logo was the 1's logo not the 2's, LOL) and to top it off it was slim fit. I have nvr wore it once, yet.

wonder why they did this release so half assed?

The toebox looks off when theyre not on feet. On feet they look way better , prob because of the soft smooth leather..it shapes after your feet

the good leather helps the toebox shape look acceptable,
but i still think the mold also needs to be changed

this is one of the few nike air models that i actually had the original of when they 1st released therefore i'm extra picky about things & just want an improved lava retro (from 08)

    I KNOW!!! [IMG]  [IMG]

The whole ordeal didn't make sense. At first, I thought they didn't have the rights to the flaming-ball logo (cuz Andre was with Adidas at the time), hence it wasn't on the ATC III retro.  Then they dropped these tees.   And you're absolutely right... technically, the Challenge Court logo didn't officially appear until the release of the ATC III back in 1991.

I was so annoyed by all of this back then... [IMG]

When people say the ATC III do they mean the 3/4. I've only ever heard of the I, II, 3/4, and Hybrid. What else is there? Sorry. Didnt pay sttention to this shoe until 2008.
Damn. Shoulda said this back when I was in London. I got Bad Lieutenants pair 5 days after they came out anf they still had a fsr.

There's a bit of a misconception on this cuz the retros were released out of order.  So for the sake of clarity, I'll list their OG release-order, which is the order I've used all along.

    Air Tech Challenge I

    Air Tech Challenge II

    Air Tech Challenge III

    Air Tech Challenge IV

I try to stay away from the "3/4" part, cuz as you can see, the ATC 3's & 4's both use it.  I think it had more to do with the fact that it was a mid-cut (or 3/4 cut) rather than the order of the shoe.  I'm not even gonna talk about the hybrids cuz this is strictly about the OG's.

    Hope this clears it up.

that's exactly right 3/4 refers to the three-quarter-high cut
they could have just called it a 'mid' but i guess maybe they are slightly taller than what a 'mid' was defined as at at the time

so for instance, both of these released originally:

Nike Air Tech Challenge II 3/4 (the mid-cut version)
Nike Air Tech Challenge II Lo (the low-cut version)

    ^ Yeah. that makes sense...

    Perhaps...

    4/4 - High

    3/4 - Midish

    2/4 - Mid

    1/4 - Low

Alright cool. First time I ever seen the Is and I thought the IIIs were the Is and IVs were the IIIs.

    Good looking out.

I hope a pair of the IVs come out soon. Those are sick.

Kilroy sorry for the confusion I was thinking of another model.

I was happy when Nike released some challenge court I logo tees. I thought it was a sign that the 1's were going to be retroed and nothing came of it.

yeah that's exactly what you and I and everyone else thought, then this shirt releases with that logo, so who knows really??

its like Nike does these things just to make our mind's turn into mush, trying to figure out what's what, nowadays.

I'm still wondering why this logo wasn't used on the shoes. would of made them 30% better IMO.

so instead of making the shoes as close to og as possible, they put this logo on a shirt that doesn't match the shoes at all, uses the completely wrong logo for what shoe it went with. and was SLIM FIT!!!!!!!!!!
like c'mon nike, 99.2% of your customers ARE NOT slim fit........

YOU (Nike) are some DUMB DONKEYS!!! lulzzzzzzzzz, lol. :x :smh:

UK always gets sick exclusives. You should've seen all these bad ******* in the huaraches. They OG colorways sold out and and the only good retro + colorway was gone too or else I would've copped those too.

It still makes no sense. What JB considers mids (I.E. the 11s) are shorter than some nike high tops (Anything in the dunk family)

and to be even more confusing, some models like the air trainer have gone from being originally labeled as high to being retro labeled as a mid
though the shoe [basically] stayed the same including height

but it doesn't matter, you just have to remember what is defined on a model by model basis

Yeah, the original Air Trainer 1 also was a "High"... as was the Air Trainer SC 1 and 2.  All 3 pairs seemed to have different heights...

Ultimately, it's just a name... A high-top today is far different from a high-top back in the 90's.  Just look at the Ewings!
