I just had a full-on Do The Right Thing moment with one of my first graders in the hallway on the way to the buses.

I was walking backwards, leading them to the buses and my line leader got too close to me and stepped on the toe box of my Shadows. I look down and there's a small, but noticeable scuff mark staring me right in the face.

I kept my composure, but inside there was a feeling of pure rage swelling up from the depths of the abyss.

What I said out loud: "That's okay Erin, don't worry about it."

What I said inside: "You rotten, little #$%:angry::emoji_angry:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...I'll see you in HELL!!!!!!!!!"

Perspective.

...it's all about perspective.

fam i’ve been working in high schools goin on 15 years.. any time i wear my 1s or dunks, they’re in absolute astonishment. been thinking about transitioning and working in elementary. just dont know if i’m ready for that leap and if that’s my age group i’m suited for

I’ve been working middle school/junior high for the almost the past 10 years and it’s the same for that age group as well when it comes wearing my 1s or Jordans in general. Especially being a basketball and football coach. Been thinking about going back to high school to coach as well, but I have three little ones at home and the coaching at the high school level would take a lot of time away from them. Kind of want to wait until they’re older.

I was a teacher for most of my 20s. I wore EVERYTHING to school. They got used to it. The only people surprised by how much I could rotate were other adults (usually non Blacks if I'm being honest). I would always say I used to work in a sneaker store during college and I caught a lot of stuff on sale.

I currently work in IT and pre pandemic I kinda toned down my kicks at work (even though it was allowed). I worked in a majority White space and it can be kinda annoying explaining that this has been my hobby since childhood.

Ironically, sneakers have become somewhat of an asset class now (depending on model and condition of course) so the conversation would probably be a lot easier now.

It’s definitely a different world than high school. I love it myself, because I’m a learning specialist and I get to work with kids ranging from kindergarten to 3rd grade.

The kinders are so damn cute, but totally lacking in self sufficiency. 5th graders are more like middle schoolers, but come with a lot more attitude than the ducklings. whether you’d like it or not probably depends on what you do.

At my school I’m officially known as “The Drip King” for all the drippy shoes I wear.

…it’s done wonders for my self esteem.

Not trying to sidetrack the thread but……

still though ,,damn u must like them bad,, have fun boss

Not sure if this a flex or pure stupidity lol, I worked at a warehouse before and my shoes get dirty asf there. Maybe he rocking reps and don’t care idk but he wild

I wear my Jordans to school 4 or 5 days a week.

I have to be on the playground for a couple of recesses as part of my duties and I’m always a little scared about getting them dirty…especially the ones with suede or nubuck.

But it’s a calculated risk that I’m willing to take in order to wear my shoes on a regular basis.
