Is this maybe a different sort of Payless than what the rest of us are thinking? Because my understanding is that Payless Shoe Source is out of business as a brick and mortar store within the USA. This is per their website https://www.payless.com/restructure

They still have an online presence here via Amazon and do have retail locations outside of the US.

As for the Nike shoes being sold at Payless as mentioned in those articles I can't find any evidence that they actually ever made it to retail sale or any prototypes.

They're supposedly limited to like 5,000 pairs or something, so I wouldn't be surprised if prices stay high on them.

Looks legit to me. Maybe you can ask for some side view pics with flash.
Some parts are reflective. Reflective parts are pretty tough to replicate.
