That's one hell of a write-up just for the 5 or 6 Braves fans we have here...

We're in better shape than last year, but it's still hard to be overly optimistic. If we get to 80-85 wins this year, I'll take it...

Oh yeah...I cringed when I looked at the box score yesterday and saw that we blew the lead in the 7th and lost a 1-run game. Not this again...

Didn't realize today's game was on TV...should have set the DVR.

Wzup.

I'm ready.

Still a bit pissed ATL got shafted several times this offseason from AJ Burnett to Smoltz to Griffey, but I expect major improvements this year.

That was very impressive, to say the least. I think Schafer will outright win the CF job during the Spring but since Anderson is out of options, Schafer willstart out in AAA.

-I'm happy that we didn't give up Gorkys nor Esco for Peavy. Bidding against yourselves is not a good look Mr. Wren.

-Our pitching rotation is ehhh, but the bullpen has potential with Moylan, Soriano, and Gonzalez.

-The crazy part is that if the Braves don't make that Texiera trade, we'll probably have the BEST FARM SYSTEM, EVER.

I didn't get a chance to see Tommy Hanson pitch today, but they said his fastball was clocked around 95-96 and one even had a 99 mph fastball he did giveup 2 runs in his debut.

List of Braves players that will be playing in the World Baseball Classic

Jones and McCann Homer USA win over Phillies

Clearwater, Fla. - Chipper Jones helped give the United States a win over the World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies, hitting a three-run homer in a 9-6 victory Thursday.

Jones' homer was the fourth straight hit off of Philadelphia right-hander Kyle Kendrick and turned a 1-all game into a 4-1 lead in the third inning of the World Baseball Classic warmup.

Jones' teammate, Brian McCann, also homered for the U.S. team. Ryan Braun and McCann hit consecutive home runs off Antonio Bastardo to lead off the fourth inning.

Where you knuckleheads at?

Chipper got a 3 year extension, Schafer will be the starter in CF, and Hanson will start the year in AAA.

Opener on Sunday night @ Philly. Hamels is out, so it'll likely be Lowe vs. Myers.

Chipper with the extension....good looks.

Don't forget Lowe will also start the home opener vs the Nats too.

How's Schafer doing at ST?

Braves Trade Josh Anderson for RHP Darrow

Darrow, who is expected to begin the season with Double-A Mississippi, went 5-3 with a 2.02 ERA in 47 combined appearances with Class A West Michigan and Double-A Erie last year. In the process, the 25-year-old right-hander posted a ground-ball-to-fly-ball ratio of 4.8 and limited right-handed hitters to a .183 batting average.

"He's a sidearm right-hander who throws anywhere from 90-94 [mph] with great sink," Wren said while comparing the young reliever's delivery to Peter Moylan's.

Anderson was out of options so its up to Gregor Blanco or Jordan Schafer who gets the CF job, Bobby Cox has said that he will decide who willbe the starting CF this friday with Jordan Schafer the leading candidate.
Braves Complete Extension with Chipper Jones

Jones' three-year contract extension, which takes effect in 2010, provides a guarantee of $42 million over three seasons and includes a vesting option that allows for the opportunity for the veteran third baseman to earn $61 million over what could be the final four seasons of his storied career.

"This is a great day for us," Wren said. "It's a great day for our fans, and obviously, it's a great day for Chipper, who helped make this happen. It's hard to say what he means to this organization."

Jones will make $10 million this year, while completing the final year of his contract, and then draw a $13 million salary during the 2010, '11 and '12 seasons. During this three-season span, the six-time All-Star will have the opportunity to annually gain a bonus of $1.5 million. These separate $750,000 bonuses would vest when he plays in 135 games and 140 games in a specific season.

This extension also includes a $9 million vesting option for the 2013 season that will be exercised if Jones plays in 123 games in '12 or if he plays in an average of 127 games during the '11 and '12 seasons. If this option is exercised, he'd also have the opportunity to gain the same $750,000 bonuses under the same parameters that will be present from 2010-12.

If this option doesn't vest, the Braves could exercise a $7 million team option for the 2013 season. Jones, who will turn 37 on April 24, will also receive a $3 million signing bonus that will be paid in equal installments over the course of the next three years.

This is some great news Chipper definitely needed to be a lifetime Brave.

Let's sweep the defending Champs, how sweet that would be!

We need a quality start from Vazquez. He pitched great for Mexico in the WBC.
