I disagree with trading Richards......Carter was bound to be dealt, did not see Richards going though.

 

So, according to the blogs, the Leafs are working on a deal BIGGER than the Richards to LA one? Parise is the name being thrown around.....

I got mad when I heard Philly wanted Kulemin & Kadri for Richards, cause Burke clearly didn't say "yes" to it right away (which he should have), but Holmgren didn't want Richards to stay in the East.

I'm with you man. Love these moves. Richie was an awful captain. They both also had no trade clauses that comes into effect in 2012. Dump the large salaries while we could. The locker room will be a much more cohesive place. Please make Pronger captain.

The only thing that doesn't make sense is that Tampa still has 8 days to sign Stamkos, and they aren't far off at all.

I just don't see Philly taking all these risks in order to have the opportunity (Which may not even come) to throw Stamkos an offer sheet. The reason why other teams are rumored to be interested in an offer sheet is because they are well below the $48 million and they can afford to offer $11 million for 1 year if Tampa doesn't sign him before July 1st.

 

I agree here.  Didn't expect Richards to get traded but with those long contracts gone and how much they loved to party .

Bryz is good for the yearly salary but those years are OD.  Plus, I'd much rather have Brad Richards for the next 3 to 4 years in his prime (IF he gets a 5 or 6 year deal).

Quan, I don't think they'd deal Parise TBH.  Not to be a homer but with the arbitrator probably siding more towards $5 to $5.5 million than the $6.5 to $7 and with the cap going up, I think they're focused on resigning him long term.  I don't think Lou is trading his captain, everyone plays so much better when he's on the ice.  But, I could be completely wrong.

Can't believe the Flyers just traded captain Mike Richards.... I can assure you Stamkos will not be leaving Tampa Bay for at least another 10 years

I missed out on all of this...but Philly must know something we don't or that locker room must not be right. Simmonds is nice, not sure about the other guys....but hey at least you Philly fans won't have to yell about your goalies anymore.

Trying to trade for Stamkos? They would have to trade everyone on that team to get him away from Tampa....

exactly what has Jeff Carter ever done in the playoffs?  and it's clear Richards is not a good captain

Brayden Schenn is regarded by many as the top prospect in all of hockey who is ready to come in and make an impact this year (currently drafted).  Addition by subtraction, Flyers are a better team, mark my words.

Carter n Richards r both good players... not great and often dissappear when it matters most

Good moves... rebuilt quickly and deafly

 

i mean the PHI deals are fine depending on who comes in. if it's just simmonds and voracek (which i doubt - i know theyve got something cooking), then i'd be pissed. as bright as the future may be...PHI wasn't FAR off from a deep run. to just dump and go into rebuild mode would annoy me.

Richards was non existent this year in the playoffs in '10 his only great series was against Montreal, Briere carried that team
