Miss the NHL, im just afraid it might run longer into next season if that's possible. If you don't remember the Gov't had to step in the Baseball strike so it wouldn't had gone longer than one season. problems still remain today between the two.


Fehr ego is so big and it's already starting to feed into the players with some of them and their anti-Bettman tweets.
 
^ agreed, but from what im reading, it doesnt appear like it would help much. the owners still would need to come off their hard stance, which the mediator cant force. an arbitrator on the other hand would be great.

This stuff cannot keep happening.

so a reporter in boston is reporting some interesting (yet completely unconfirmed by any league official) news:

BOSTON (CBS) – The NHL lockout has been going on for 79 days and on Tuesday, a select group of owners and players are scheduled to meet in New York.

Sources tell WBZ-TV’s Steve Burton that an unannounced meeting was held Monday with a high-ranking official from each side, and significant progress was made toward salvaging the hockey season. It’s possible an announcement could come as soon as tomorrow or Wednesday.

Burton spoke with Bruins forward Milan Lucic at Joe Andruzzi’s foundation dinner, and he’s very excited about the possibility of getting back to work.

“You know if your sources are correct obviously it’s great news,” says Lucic. “It’s great for the fans I think especially. I know they’ve been probably going through the most heartache than anyone.”

Lucic says he was optimistic that the season would be salvaged and that played a big role in his decision not to go to Europe. He admits that it will take him a little longer to get into shape than those who are playing right now.

“You’re not in game shape if you’re not playing games,” Lucic said smiling. “It might take me a little bit to get back into game shape but you know I’m confident in myself that I’m going to be able to get back and I know guys in Europe that I’ve talked to, that they would like nothing more than to come back here and play in the league that they want to play in most and that’s the NHL.”

steve burton, from what i know, isn't some crazy guy or anything. i would hope he's not pulling this out of thin air.

:lol: hey i want this bad too...but seems like everyone else is shooting this story down. just doesn't make sense that burton would report it if there wasn't something though. if it's a b.s. report, don't kill the messenger, bro :lol:

#CBA negotiations are strenous, but are closer and closer. Fans will have NHL hockey by Christmas, very likely games on Christmas day.

^0 Chance for the Winter Classic, if there is even a season. Not looking good today. Sounding like the main holdup is that the players are unwilling to accept a 10 yr CBA with 5 yr contract limits.
