The latter, I think. He did not play much in preseason. So, barring injury to someone else, I don't see him getting much burn.

BTW, I really was seriously considering hosting a viewing party for the first game at my house, but my wife has a lot of health stuff going on, so now isn't the best time to have over a bunch of Internet friends. "Hey honey, this is shoeking, erupt, reduce, etc. Of course they're good people, they've been on Niketalk forever."

Thanks. Unfortunately, it is pretty serious. She needs a kidney transplant. But she has a donor and the surgery is scheduled, so assuming it goes well, things should get better after that. Probably good for playoff time. Keep those fingers crossed.

Crucial to come out of the gate strong.

No more 7-5 starts if we're serious about winning a chip this year. In years past, too much variance between our high and low points. Not the mark of a championship team. Our high points and our low points have to be close together in order to have a real shot at this thing.

10-2, 9-3 start is what I'm looking for. Schedule is tough early on, but regardless.

    That would be great. :D

Though, truth be told, wifey isn't much of a hoops fan. I remember one of our early dates in 1998 was to a Lakers preseason game. During pre-game warm ups she looks at me and says pretty loud, "which one is Magic Johnson?" She was dead serious. Now, I don't get embarrassed easily, but I for sure sunk down in my seat a bit and pulled my hat over my face.

Not looking bad. Bench is gonna need some time to grow but Lance in the starting 5 might just work. Red jerseys are still :x

If Demarcus didn't **** his way into getting every call, this would be a blow out right now.

I like what I've seen. As long as JSmoove doesn't feel the urge to jack up threes and long twos and plays the solid defense he's shown tonight i'll be happy.

:rolleyes actually...let's just get this W.

I didn't wanna say anything in the NBA thread cuz Blake and CP3 do their fair share of cryingbut cot damn. Cousins out here flailing his arms and slapping the floor. Dude literally looked like he was about to cry

LOVED what I saw from Smith, Lance, and Pierce.

    1-0 :pimp:

Cousins cries just as much if not more than blake and CP.

On the floor slapping the floor begging for calls.

Regardless the kings are playoff bound as long as they stay healthy. Knew it wasn't going to be easy.

Good win. Solid execution down the stretch. Lance fits with the starting lineup.

THIS. worked nicely tonight. Ride the hot hand too. Jamal also chipping it in when needed. Game was sloppy but I really liked what I saw.

    1-0. Leggo! :smokin

Yep, and like you said before, if we want to secure home court in the playoffs, can't fritter away winnable games. But given what went on in the Summer, I expect the team to come out ready for this one.

I think Doc will get the best out of Lance this season.

He doesn't have to be Indiana lance, but just a guy that will take the open shot, run the floor, cut and run some secondary pick and roll on the weak side. JJ looked a little uncomfortable with Lance out there at first. But I'm sure they'll figure it out.

I felt JJ didn't play well last night, and he still had 15 on 5/11 & 2/5. He missed some good looks, but hit some big shots and free throws. He's the key.

I think the bench will absolutely get it together. Josh Smith was great on Defense. He had 4 blocks off the bench. Bench units with bigger C's or staggard lineups could hurt having Smith playing the 5 though. All in all, I liked what I saw.

JJ has some chemistry issues with both wesley Johnson and Lance. Especially when they run their floppys. Noticed it even during the preseason. JJ was so in sync with matt, and Lance sometimes (like Last night) gets caught not knowing what to do, running the wrong routes, etc.

Nothing to really be worried about though and I imagine that by the 15th game or so of the season there will be a flow and chemistry there.

I don't know how I feel about the Smith / Pierce small ball second unit. Going back to the preseason, we are getting killed on the boards with that. It's hard, but I wouldn't be opposed to giving cole a look and as wavy said, staggering the lineups a bit because I do think this will be a problem going forward. But offensively, from Jamal to Austin, to Josh Smith, Wes Johnson hit a corner three, they appear to be playing within themselves which is great. I love what I see on that end.

Even though it's the 2nd game of the season, these games are important man. I know we are far from a finished product, but we still need to rack up these wins. They'll prove vital if / when we win the conference or finish with the second seed.

Loved what I saw last nite.  BG played as instinctive as I've ever seen him play, no hestiation.

The added dimensions (J Smoove's shot blocking, PP's offensive arsenal and Lance's chaos, both good and bad, [IMG]  ) to the squad are going to be fun to watch.

Co-sign on the bit about Cousins.  Looks like dude is never gonna grow up, his tantrums and complaining are pathetic.

Generally agree, but I felt like he got a little tight again when the game got close in the 4th quarter. Took a couple of bad shots when Gay was guarding him. Went away from what had been working for him. No big deal because we won, but I'd like to start seeing him make clutch 4th quarter shots more often.
