BJ controlled the fight the whole time. He was near perfect. Congrats to BJ. Can't wait to see him fight again
GO SPURS GO!

glad BJ won.. ended up missing that fight to grab a drink with some friends at a place with no cable.. go figure.. i'll try to catch the replay now.

Lightweight division is looking good. Sherk, Franca, Florian, Huerta, Tyson, Nate, and Manny. I see big things for Huerta.
Sacramento Kings: Fight for the playoffs!

Bj could have had an armbar as he was predicting but a rear naked choke isn't bad as well. Pulver got away with the armbar attempt. I can't wait to see Penn move up to 170....

Rogan over exaggerated. Maynard was woozy, but was NOT knocked out cold. Maynard should've been given the win. He was robbed.
I swear that Prince can ball!

I don't disagree with the Maynard decision. When he was just lying there, I thought it was a bad call. But when the doc sat him up and he fell back over, that's when you knew he had knocked himself out.

I feel really bad for Manny. He dominated that first round and there is no doubt in my mind that he would have won that fight. He said he has had this same injury before, so I hope doctors are able to help him and this isn't something that holds him back. His body type is amazing for 155. He can overpower everyone in the lightweight division.

I haven't been overly impressed by Diaz all of the times I've seen him. He seems to be very good with submissions, but he is constantly fighting off the other opponent taking him down. I know he is only 22 and has a great brother to train with, but he still needs a lot of work imo.

I am THRILLED that BJ won. BJ is one of my favorite MMA fighters. He dominated Pulver from start to finish. It was a very impressive fight for BJ. I didn't realize he was only 28 years old. I never saw his fight with GSP, but I would LOVE that match. Too bad that match won't happen for a while. I'm guessing it will be Hughes beating Serra and GSP beating Koscheck. I still like GSP over Hughes, and after that, I would love a GSP vs BJP for the title.

My gripe with the Maynard decision is because the EXACT same @#%$ happened in Carlos Newton/Matt Hughes. Hughes got caught in that triangle and picked up Newton...and then he passed out thereby powerbombing Newton. But Hughes still got the victory. I guess it was because nobody could see Hughes face for a longer period of time so Hughes could get away with it. I remember he even had to ask his corner "I won?"

Yeah man I feel horrible for Manny. Dude was DOMINATING that fight no question. If the fight had played out...Manny probably would have just won by unanimous decision seeing as how Diaz would need to be KO'ed to quit.

I think Diaz problem is that he just isn't strong enough. I mean, he has great ground skills but a lot of times Manny just overpowers him. Against Corey Hill, he was fine because they were both relatively lanky and weak. But when he went up against Maynard he got overpowered again and was forced to work off his back. Granted, Maynard is a collegiate wrestler...I still think Diaz should spend some time working on his explosive and overall strength.

That Penn/Pulver fight was great though. I'm glad Penn won because I did not want him losing 3 in a row...hopefully that doesn't help to Wanderlei Silva either. He looks GREAT in the lightweight division. Anybody else notice he has an actual jaw line at 155? lol

I love that this post was made...Who's all going to UFC 73 in Sac? I'm bout to be there with a few friends, drunk off my @#%$...

73 Should be a good one to attend. Stacked cards. Unfortunately for me it's not worth making the road trip from so cal. I will be watching it from the comfort of my own couch.

ADAM MARQUEZ IS A HYPEBEAST

hahahahaha i hardly ever make it out to see MMA live, only because I'm poor and its @#%$ expensive. I was at the Dynamite K-1/Pro-Elite show a few weeks back and that was entertaining (and free). Before that, I havent been to a live UFC event in 2 years, when I thought Rich Franklin was going to be arrested for involuntary manslaughter. It really looked like Nate Quarry died in the ring from that punch hahahaha.

But cost wise, I can get the PPV, buy beers and fire up the grill and feed myself and 10 of my friends all while watching from the comfort of my couch (not to mention be able to rewind and rewatch anything I might have missed live) for $150. With $150 ticket for a live event I wouldnt even get close enough to see Jenna Jameson's weathered face/body.

^ sadly chuck said that dana wasn't planning for him to fight till October or November so its looking like we probably get jobbed out of a crazy main event

I just found out I tore my groin off the bone and have a hernia.

Ill be getting surgery ASAP.

For those that don't frequent Sherdog forums...a lot of pro fighters post on their from time to time to hype up their fights and Phil is a regular. That sounds like the worst injury any man can endure. Props to him though he WILL be back.

Off topic a little:

I am SO disappointed in what Loiseau has become. His last victory I believe was in a small venue in Austin and he won by decision over some no name jobber. Hopefully he can pick things up in the future.

the ufc needs fedor. still, being the #1 fighter in the world hes relatively unknown(not to mma fans) but to new fans who do watch ufc. maybe a fedor v. sylvia or big nog or loser of gonzaga/couture.

its been reported that fedors laywers and the ufc have agreed verbally to a 2 year contract. whats stalling it is the ufc not wanting fedor to compete in Sambo tournaments(he is the world champion) so i guess the ufc will make an exception.

^ I dont know if Tank has the motivation to really train the way he needs to. Kimbo training the way he does with Bas will steamroll Tank in his current state.

DRAKE DUDLEY..THE FUTURE OF MMA

www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wi3ni9P6tk

A lot of people have heard of Drake Dudley...a 10(probably 12 years old now) year old phenom who is seriously gifted in grappling. He's won numerous national grappling tournaments and even enters in some kids MMA events(which I really disagree with). But check it out. Kids like him will be the future of this sport. Growing up doing boxing, jiu jitsu, and wrestling.

^ props!

this kid is amazing. As one of the comments on youtube pointed out, that move where he baits the other kid into a knee bar setup was awesome. cant wait to see this kid fight pro in 5-6 years.

Also..I don't think kids should be allowed to do leg locks..no matter how experienced they are. Hell, a lot of white/blue belt competitions don't allow leg locks. The risk is very high for something bad to happen and especially if you're still a little kid and you're growing. With that being said, next time I roll I'm going to definitely try out that turtle-to-kneebar.

Here's a video of Sean Sherk doing some very simple pad work. He's got some great stand up and notice how fast he goes in for that shoot..it's amazing.
