Remember that Stone successfully obstructed the central question of the ‘collusion’ inquiry, as did Manafort. He committed 7 felonies to protect Trump and prevent prosecutors from learning the full extent of his communications with Wikileaks and the GRU. He deleted his communications from the relevant time period in a way that blocked prosecutors from recovering them.
Stone could also nail Trump for lying under oath in his written testimony.

Rick Gates’ sworn testimony in the Stone trial already contradicts Trump’s written answers regarding Stone. Gates’ testimony alone isn’t sufficient but if Stone told the truth about his conversations with Trump, you’d certainly have a false statement case.
