This is a society dominated by white men, there's no way in hell that they'll fully accept a man of another race or a woman of any race, history has taught us this.

Funny how in America the focal point is "white vs. black" whereas in other parts of the world it's "rich vs. poor".

700

Maybe the beef with us liberals is we bring up race too much

In America, white supremacy has been a more powerful organizing principle than religious, economic or gender identification. So it will come up often in political discussions.

Conway really said alternative facts

We are being trolled

No. The MSM is blatantly lying now.

"You're saying it's a falsehood and Sean Spicer, our press secretary, gave alternative facts to that,"

She said it man, only ones lying here are her and Spicer.

Also I found this hilarious as well

"I don't think you can prove those numbers one way or another. There's no way to quantify crowd numbers," Conway said.

But Spicer pretty clearly said: "This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period,"

These fools can't get out of their own way, and they are in charge of our country. What a damn disgrace

"Alt. right"

"Alternative facts"

I haven't heard the word "alternative" being used this much since the grunge wave of the early 90s.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/23/opinion/our-new-age-of-contempt.html

Contempt, Kant recognized, is a very dangerous thing. The danger lies in contempt’s peculiar ability to dehumanize its target. Widespread public contempt has the potential to undermine the moral basis of all human relationships and, indeed, of human community itself.

A fundamental feature of contempt is that it is globalist, meaning that it is directed at the entire person, rather than just some aspect of that person. It is thus unlike other negative attitudes, like anger.. If I express anger toward you, I am engaging with you. If I express contempt toward you, I am dismissing you. The distinction is crucial.

When it comes to contempt, there has been plenty of it coming from the traditionally privileged (for lack of better word) section of American society towards those who weren't part of that club. It applies to race as well as the socioeconomic status.

*ALL LIVES MATTER* is contemptuous.

The southern atrategy is contemptuous.

The inability of a certain section of the population to acknowledge these things exist is contemptuous.

The dismissal of the concerns of the poor, the minorities, the women is contemptuous.

Frankly, I really fail to understand why you posted that article, because contempt has always been part of American politics. I don't know you only recognize it now.

The Drumpfsters can't make up their mind on how to spin the whole "job" thing.

Explaining that the inauguration was a ghost town because all Drumpf supporters had jobs to take care of. But wait.. Didn't Obama make everyone unemployed, which is why Drumpf was the champion of the working class unemployed who lost their jobs to the Chinese, etc.?

Saw this comment under a Facebook post trying to explain how trump isn't racist. Without even noticing that this line of thinking IS racist. And there are a lot of people that think this way.
This is another one of the ways white supremacy has evolved. Instead of being upfront with it and saying "We are better these other races are inferior" instead they say "we are normal and there are some  good people in other races but overall they are the problem *proceeds to list half truths or flat out lies to back that up*."

It's just some fake pseudo-intellectual "racial realism" to not seem out right racist but at the end of the day its all racist.

Would rep if I could but im out after the Falcons getting to the superbowl yesterday.

Hidden Colors 4's sub title is "The Religion of White Supremacy" so fitting.

It really is funny when they constantly contradict themselves.

These Republicans are so damn spineless man

@mateagold: Emerging consensus in Rubio orbit: there is little upside to voting no on Tillerson, via @karoun @waposean https://t.co/tLt7s59xZA

They come up with all that bluster in the hearings just for show and when it comes down to it,they don't give a damn about having courage of their convictions.

Word to McCain and Graham bending the knee as well on the Rexxon nomination.

what a piece of ****.

i was actually thinking while driving this morning about the pros and cons for rubio to oppose tillerson's nomination. if he says "yes," it's a safe move and keeps his standing as a republican senator safe. if he says "no," he risks his short-term support but it could pave the way for bigger and better things if he emerges as a courageous voice against trump. it would demonstrate that he's presidential quality (although that phrase means little given our current POtuS).

anyway, it's obvious now that rubio is not and will never be strong enough to be a viable candidate for president. i guess that's ok. someone else will have to emerge.

Marco Rubio is a **** boy. In related news, water remains wet and the sun is scheduled to set later this evening.

Thank god @Colombia doesn't live here considering his health issues
Republicans really trying to commit a purge of the elderly, poor, and sick

With all my medical costs I'd be looking at hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical debt probably.

A little over 3 years ago I required a very complex lung surgery, this was another medical problem before I became chronically ill and disabled.

It was a rare lung defect called intralobary pulmonary sequestration, which in my case was very severe. I had an extra aorta sized artery branching off from the top of my aorta into smaller vessels in my right lung. Because of the size and pressure of that artery, it started to rupture and bled into my lung. Due to the complexity of the the defect, I was referred to the top lung surgeon in the country. The surgery was a bit risky due to the internal bleeding but it was very successful and despite having half of my right lung removed, a good portion of it has actually regenerated and my lung capacity is back to normal.

But the bill for that surgery ended up being around €16000, not including insurance.

Our insurance at the time lowered that to €4400 thankfully. It was a bit of an emergency surgery so we didn't have time to quickly put me on a 100% coverage plan. €4400 is considered a pretty huge medical bill here but I'm guessing that's nothing compared to what it would cost in the US.

Belgium has a great insurance system as there is both good employer coverage and many different individual options to choose from.

Despite being disabled and regularly getting all sorts of medical tests and appointments with specialists I'm still able to get a 100% coverage plan with no questions asked.

Our top hospitals also get a lot of foreign patients who come here for high quality and less expensive care. Even all the way from countries like Dubai or America.

Those aren't alternative facts. Those are true facts.

The best part of Kellyanne Conway saying that was that she laughed as she said it. She knew Spicer was lying and wasn't sure how else to defend him.

In other news, I came across this lovely biography on the spawn of satan:

http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/01/meet-the-new-ted-cruz-214681

Cruz appears intent on building—and in some cases repairing—personal relationships with Republican senators. He started a weekly basketball game in the Russell Building, for example, and has been urging colleagues to attend. (Cruz is said to be a surprisingly good jump-shooter with miserable form.) Tim Scott has played, and Marco Rubio is said to be joining soon.

:x

How do we feel about Kamala Harris :nerd:

Charismatic as hell. Seems very smart, rational and progressive. Have read/seen/heard about her before....but she's starting to click now. The women's march was big for her.

A Blasian sista for 2020 :nerd: :nerd:? Somebody get me hip.
