Brian Kemp, Who Threatened to Abduct Undocumented Immigrants, Wins GOP Race in Georgia

After a bonkers runoff election, Brian Kemp defeated Casey Cagle in Georgia’s Republican race for governor, setting the stage for a general election that will likely be one of the most politically polarizing state races in years.
November’s race will pit Kemp against Stacey Abrams, a progressive democrat who is the first black woman to win a major party nomination for governor.

Kemp, who is currently Georgia’s secretary of state, was once considered a relative long shot in the race. He ran hard to Cagle’s right, airing a series of viral ads in which he touted his arsenal of firearms and even threatened to use his truck to abduct undocumented immigrants and transport them back to their countries of origin. He described himself as a “politically incorrect conservative” and appealed to worries among primary voters that despite what Cagle said on the campaign trail, he couldn’t be trusted to uphold traditional conservative values.

Subpoena the interpreter, problem solved. Oh wait, House Republicans already blocked a motion to do that.
If US intelligence really wants to take things to an extreme they could use their Special Collection Service to see the communications of Putin's entourage at the summit.

Trump's version, if any, of what took place during the summit should be viewed with a lot of skepticism either way. It doesn't appear Trump even took a notepad with him, whereas Putin clearly did. His own attorneys and aides struggled to prepare him for a potential Mueller interview, with Trump losing interest after just a few questions in what was supposed to be a 4-hour prep session according to the WSJ.

why would they block that
First and foremost to prevent the interpreter from testifying to Congress in a closed door session as to what was said in Trump and Putin's one on one meeting.
Why the House Republicans were so keen on making sure the interpreter doesn't testify is of course a different story. Perhaps they're worried Trump gave away concessions, leaked classified intelligence and/or made other damaging remarks. Or maybe they just want to shut down or obstruct anything relating to Russia.

House Republicans defeat attempt to subpoena Trump interpreter
Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday defeated an attempt by panel Democrats to subpoena the interpreter who worked for President Donald Trump during his summit Monday with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

is there a way around that to
to have the the interpreter still testify

Democrats can make another motion to subpoena the interpreter but regardless of whether it's the House or the Senate, they'll still need Republicans to sign off on it due to them having a majority in both chambers of Congress.
I assume the interpreter could testify voluntarily if he wants to.

As far as I know yes, if the interpreter or other witnesses wants to testify voluntarily he/she can do so. If the witness comes in voluntarily, the participation of both parties on the relevant committees isn't required. Even if the Republicans have no interest in participating, the Democrats on the committee could still conduct the interview and vice versa.

For example, House Democrats on the Intel committee recently tried to interview a former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser named John Mashburn. The Democrats wanted to ask Mashburn questions about any communications, if any, Papadopoulos had with other Trump campaign officials regarding the information Papadopoulos had received about Russia possessing those stolen emails.
Mashburn had agreed to testify voluntarily and normally that would have gone through regardless of whether the Republican majority wanted to participate, however the GOP majority on the intel committee contacted Mashburn and told him to stay away after Adam Schiff informed them of the scheduled interview.

Whatever House Republicans told Mashburn, it worked and he cancelled his testimony. At the end of the day without a subpoena it is up to the witness to decide if he wants to testify or not, as long as one party on the relevant committee wants to conduct the interview.

Georgia is as Red as can be. The Democrats are gonna have to come out of the woodwork to beat this guy. Funny how racist are all out and in power in 2018

Two ways to see it in my opinion:
The GOP has gotten more extremist or Georgia as a whole is ****. The conclusion will be drawn after the general.
