***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Biden is secretly training for Trump's pushup challenge.

Watch the moment they debate, he's about to walk out like buff Vince McMahon lol.

De Blasio is the worst. DOE can't fund schools properly or pay teachers well but got $500 mill sitting around for cops? How about removing cops from schools completely?

a police spokesman was interviewed on local news here in LA and they argued that removing school police officers would stress out the already overworked school counselors and teachers.

overworked and underpaid counselors and teachers eh...? I wonder if less cops and more money could be used to solve that problem...?

Properly fund inner city schools and the surrounding communities and you'd solve a lot of the issues that plague them.
But THEY don't wanna hear that. THEY wanna blame us for the conditions THEY placed us in that we're forced to survive.

That's the real shame of American politics. It's easier for politicians to victim blame their constituents than it is for them to do the right/hard thing which is push and implement real change. At the end of the day regardless of party I genuinely believe that most politicians are more concerned with pushing their own agenda and lining their own pockets rather than doing good things in the area they live/work.

That dude had zero self awareness. The obvious answer to hire more counselors and proper funding from the ground up was right there in front of him, but he had to protect his fellow thugs.

1.) We agree on intersectional praxis

2.) The example of two coworkers being encouraged, by capital, to not unionize because they have a different sexual orientation is a concept endorsed by most socialist LGBT+ people. The example I used is an amalgamation of examples of “rainbow capitalism” that I have been taught.

Do you really think that capital does not nor will ever reinforce the public and psychological wages of whiteness, being male, and being cishet and use false solidarity with PoC, women, LGBT people?

Mind you, I am not saying that the ostensible audience for all this corporate wokeness is or will be swayed but well off white liberals could be nudged away from sympathy for large scale labor or community organizing. In the case of the former, corporate media loves talking about how Trump is the result of working class whites despite the fact that it was more we’ll off whites who were his base. The trick is to conflate white racism with the working class and if there ever is a sectoral strike among all warehouse workers, corporate media can center white warehouse workers to dismiss the entire movement. In the case of the latter, the neoliberal mayor of Seattle dismissed the George Floyd protests as mostly being done by white men.

As it becomes harder and harder to defend capitalism with utilitarian arguments, capital will increasingly rely on presenting itself as the woke alternative to socialism, which it will present as always being one and the same with white socialism.

You and I agree that rainbow capitalism is bad and white socialism is bad. Where we may disagree is which of the two is more powerful. From my point of view, rainbow capitalism has money and a PR department. By contrast, I’m not seeing all these scheming poor, cishet whites dudes demanding a revolution but only if that revolution excludes everyone else.

Now, that’s just from where I’m looking, if you want to hit me with any links saying otherwise and elaborating on this phenomenon, I would be happy to read them in order to better figure out a praxis for convincing white socialists the importance of an intersectional praxis.

Edit: If You are a white, able bodied, cishet guy and you don't care about racism or ableism or sexism or homophobia, it's extremely unlikely that you'd want economic equality even if it's just race neutral, class based economic equality. If you treasure your whiteness, masculinity, heterosexuality and able body, you want an unequal economy because either you are rich and want to keep it that way or if you're not rich you think you will be rich and the only thing keeping from being rich is liberalism and its plurality which is subverting the natural hierarchy which you think you belong at the top of.

It's true that white nationalists are starting to warm to some degree of redistribution if only to make it easier for white people to start families and have a lot of white kids. But the fact that Candidate Trump's and Senators' Hawley and Cotton's extremely limited nods to a social safety net are remarkable is because the default economic policy for white supremacists, xenophobes, homophobes, misogynists and white evangelicals is market capitalism.

I'm not saying that white supremacists who are Marxists don't exist but they don't any power or organization or the platform when compared to capital which has almost limitless resources, controls most platforms and has the flexibility to absorb identitarian political movements and weaponize them.

Obviously, we both center the victims of oppressive structures and that's correct but it's worth taking note of the victimizers and assessing their relative degrees of power and resources.
