Was Pre-Med
.... started losing passion for it. Wanted to wear the Power suit, so I switched to Public Admin. I ultimately want to make it to congress, but the public sector is a big field so there's lots of opportunity.

Chose not to do summers. So I'll be taking a victory lap after the 4 years. Not tripping though with the way the economy is.
3 down. 2 years to go. 

Currently employed with USPS. hoping the degree will double what im making now.

Been in school 3 years now, barely figured out that I want to do mechanical engineering so I have to work my way up. Hopefully I can graduate in 2-3 years, don't have any other choice.

Sophmore, declared as Finance+ Accounting major. Interning at Merill Lynch even though im only a year in since I had some family friends who work there.. Its pretty boring but not too time worthy allowing me to keep my other part time job. Mostly helping other brokers and doing misc stuff like cold calling haha. HGaving it for the experience to try and land something nice next summer

I'm a Phi Delt. (Phi Delta Theta)

It's actually a white fraternity, but I'm out west so Greek life is a little different than back east where chapters are older and especially down south where it's historically segregated.
At UNLV black greek life has almost no presence on campus. IFC is where it's at. I was always sorta white washed anyway, but my advice is just to get in where you fit in. I came on campus as a freshman saying I would never join one, and then I found cool people who I clicked with. Don't be afraid to open yourself up to new experiences.

Last thing I want to do is make it a race thread lol but

White fraternities are older and have a strong alumni base which means more money flowing in, and networking is what really matters after you graduate. And they usually have more members which means bigger parties... and if you like white girls well.... Though a black fraternity, because they're smaller, might be that much more close knit if you find one of them in a position of power. It's definitely not the same experience, but it's not a bad one.

Ima drop out doin fine. I dont recommend it in this day an age though. Times are tough. I have a good support group around me an a awesome entrepreneur of a mother an I somehow got lucky to have a decent job with benefits but I did bust my *** for. I count my blessings. Learn a trade with demand or find something you think you at least enjoy not just for the money in a degree that's hiring. I know too many grads in real life not making the salaries you always hear on NT. My girl doesn't have a degree either an makes 28.30 per hr and she even has other little gigs too. It's possible man it's all up to the individual. An neither of us wanna live off one job nobody gets rich off the time clock. Franchise expo was at NYC last week at Jacob Javits. I was in there. Also I have a passion for fitness....I got something in the works with a buddy of mine who serious like me. An I do real estate stuff also with moms. Nothing is easy you gotta work for it. O yea.....don't have kids before 30. Anyways good luck op. Ima pretty private person but real life just network with goal oriented ppl and connects come also. I been left all my low life friends behind. O well.

I feel like a lot of college is just unnecessary **** shoveling in terms of having to take classes that have nothing to do with my major or being assigned loads of busy work just so a professor looks like they're actually teaching us something.

But it's already too late. Been indoctrinated to the point where I wouldn't know what to do if I wasn't in college working for a degree. Always been taught education is the key.

I been there Jay an always been taught the same. Trust me my dad and godfather are two black males who are alumni of Yale. Imma do it my way though. It's not easy and this day an age is harder. Just stay on track man. Also my state college I was like the only black dude in all my classes. Lol

I'm pre-med, but in a non-science major so I'm doing triple the work :x I'm probably gonna make it in 5 years, just because the prereqs for my science classes are dumb as hell here and I'm studying abroad. I have no idea what to do with my major other than work for the government translating/embassy stuff, go to academia/grad school, or get into med school

Never dropping out tho, I'm doing it for more than just me and I love school

But it's already too late. Been indoctrinated to the point where I wouldn't know what to do if I wasn't in college working for a degree. Always been taught education is the key.

Honestly for me I've struggled to find what I really want to do as a career therefore I haven't finished college in the time period I'd like. However I know myself and like most people, once you stop its almost impossible to go back. Sure jobs look rare every single day, but stay in school until you figure out what it is you want to do. Your not racing anyone, its your life at the end of the day. Regardless of the lack of jobs, it'll become better sooner than later. Plus that degree on your resume surely helps your credibility.

I've worked while going to class and at one point I began taking less classes so I could work more to save more money and buy stupid mess. Lets just say I've learned the hard way and my sense of materialism decreased. I think I really needed it to mature. For me sometimes I ignore people's advice and rather fail sticking to my own plan.

Probably going far too off, but bruh just find yourself in college and give it your max effort. Whatever it is you want to do, stay confident and MAKE A PLAN.  Good luck bruh and god bless.

Will be going the Electrical and Computer Engineering route this Fall.

That too. When I first left school.....I said it was only gonna be a semester........lol. Yea man stick with it. An everybody situation diff. I paid for school cash as I went......no loans........an everybody home life is diff an also back then was easier than now.

Got bachelors in Kinesiology and a bachelors in Nursing. Thinking about getting my Masters in Nursing now, or Nurse practitioner. Most stuff in school isn't that applicable to the working TBH, but  school can open a lot of doors.

When I was deciding what I wanted to do and on my major I narrowed it down by asking myself:

"What do I NOT want to do?" Answer was sit in a cubicle and do work. I like having people around. This eliminated a lot of business/finance type stuff

What am I good at ? Pretty above average in most categories, didn't want anymore math though.

What do you like to do/ passionate about? Helping people. Makes me feel good, like I'm making a difference.

I decided on physical therapy/nursing because they met all of above for me.

Ask yourself similar questions, find out what you like, what you can't see yourself doing.

Most importantly, be about that COLLEGE LIFE. Surrounded by females your age

I dropped out of college too, eventually landing a gig making ok money. After working for a few years I started making over 25 dollars an hour. It was cool, but I had no mobility. I couldn't relocate because I wouldn't find anything getting paid what I was making. I had also hit my ceiling, and wouldn't be able to move up within the company or get paid more for what I was already doing. I was stuck.

Then one day I came into work to the news that my job was being outsourced and I was being laid off. So without a degree it was right back to the bottom.

That is when I decided to go back to school. You never know when that good job is going to be gone. In my opinion you have to put yourself in a position where you can "raise your basement" so to speak. I never wanted to be in a position where I had to start from the bottom again. You can still be ambitious and try to do things to get money by being your own boss, but if all else fails you have a better chance of having a career and a good paying job with a degree rather than without one. A degree also gives you flexibility. Those credentials travel. You never know where life is going to take you, and that degree can help you on that journey.

Good luck to all. I just wanted to give some insight on my experience as a 32 year old man. I graduate with my bachelors in December, and will go for my masters from there. Hopefully that will raise my basement and I will be alright.

I'm studying accounting but I like lifting weights and fitness so I'm also studying Kinesiology. I don't know what I could really do with that degree besides becoming an athletic trainer or fitness specialist :/.

Currently at a university Nursing program. 2 more years until i get my bachelors. Might continue school to become a nurse practitioner. Hopefully the job market in Cali opens up.

Sometimes i feel like im missing out on that "college experience".

Usually kinesiology majors look to become a Physical therapist or Occupational therapist.

been in school for 5 years to be honest trying to get that bachelor degree, majoring in accounting(Yes i know, I goofd)  Next year i should be able to graduate.  Need 14 more classes so i plan to do 5 classes in the fall, 2 in the winter, 5-6 in the following spring semster and finish it all off with the summer and then i'm done!

Complacency is scary. Without a degree especially I dont believe in that option. Ppl lose jobs with degrees so what makes you think you're not just a number who can be replaced when you least suspect. Combo gd hit a valid point op...another reason to stay in school. I pretty much hit a ceiling too my job very stable/cool co workers an even boss but ya gotta want more from yourself. At 18 yrs old you think 20 something dollars is a lot but when you're a grown *** man and depending on life that can be just getting by you wanna live in a big city...forget it. I work with complacent ppl......I'm good. My boss just hit her 20 yr mark and she started at the bottom.Good for her but, but I can't do that. A big reason I like NT is because we have a lot of go getters with common interest. Like I said surround and network yourself with goal minded ppl now and keep at with school for a backbone and then down the road branch off into other things. Do not listen to anyone who says you should take the easy way out and feed into your notion of dropping out an this is coming from a dude who felt same way as you 10 yrs ago. Trust.

Feeling the same way, like I'm missing out on the experience. I wanted to go the graphic artist/ photography type deal, and I still do but money was tight while going to school. I was offered a job at lockheed as a Raytheon employee. The job is cool and my department is awesome, but it's a totally different field. But it's definitely broadened my spectrum. I've always been good at math, and have my transfer requirements finished so I'm thinking of pursuing an engineering degree something like software engineering. Save up some cash and then do what I really want to do. The company is very diverse and I've met many leaders, and great people. But the best advice I received was to take your time, because you are in no rush. Grind hard and study harder... It's crazy though because a lot of the older people rolled into the jobs we are now going to school for..

Just finished my second year at the UW, currently doing pre-engineering. School can be so :x at times, but I just know all the hard work is going to pay off in the end. Only 2 more years
