Sam Allardyce interested in coaching the USMNT. Thoughts?

I kind of want to see this kid Keaton Parks get a call in November.

Benfica fans drawing comparisons to Matic when he first arrived in Lisbon.

Obviously it sucks not to be going to Russia but I'm now much more interested in the November friendlies than I would have been. Quick recap from Brian Sciaretta on faces we're likely to see next month.

New-Look Roster: 24 Names for Novemeber

I'm no Tab Ramos fan but he makes sense as an interim manager, I do expect he'll be named but my primary concern is that he brings a set of old eyes. He's familiar with all the up and coming players and he will likely view them as he did in the past.

Players he has personal beef with like Haji Wright will not get a look, he tried to pigeon hole a creative CM like Keaton Parks into a CB role because he's 6'4", etc.

Give Yedlin the armband, I wouldn't bring in Jozy, and Hamid is a must for me.

    GOALKEEPERS
    1. Zack Steffen
    2. Ethan Horvath
    3. Jesse Gonzalez

In the Mix: Bill Hamid, Cody Cropper, Sean Johnson.

    DEFENDERS
    4. Cameron Carter-Vickers
    5. Erik Palmer-Brown
    6. Justen Glad
    7. Matt Miazga
    8. Brandon Vincent
    9. Danny Acosta
    10. DeAndre Yedlin
    11. Tyler Adams

In the mix: Tim Parker, Matt Hedges, Eric Lichaj, Geoff Cameron, Jorge Villafana. Injured: John Brooks

    MIDFIELDERS
    12. Weston McKennie
    13. Jonathan Gonzalez
    14. Kellyn Acosta
    15. Cristian Roldan
    16. Russell Canouse
    17. Paul Arriola
    18. Christian Pulisic
    19. Djordje Mihailovic
    20. Lynden Gooch
    21. Kelyn Rowe

In the mix: Danny Williams, Alfredo Morales, Alejandro Bedoya Brooks Lennon, Tommy MacNamara, Julian Green, Emerson Hyndman. Injured: Kenny Saief, Sebastian Lletget

    FORWARDS
    22. Bobby Wood
    23. Jozy Altidore
    24. Dom Dwyer

In the mix: Tommy Thompson, Aron Johannsson, Terrence Boyd, C.J. Sapong, Haji Wright, Christian Ramirez. Injured: Jordan Morris

  6. TMac is not good enough and I don't want SJ to be called while we're in the playoffs..

Agreed on MacNamura it's a good thing he's about 20 players deep into the positional depth chart.

I don't think anyone who advances past round one of MLS playoffs is in contention.

I'm more worried about Jonathan Gonzalez. At 18yo he's a part of the backbone to the best team in Mexico and Liga MX playoffs start shortly after.

That's a long trip for what's as of right now just one friendly.

Idk bout Tab Ramos as interim manager. I am not a huge fan of his, but I think he at least deserves a shot at the thing on a permanent basis if USSF pulls the trigger on him.

Give the interim tag to Dan whatever

I don't think that Tab deserves anything, he's never managed adults in the entirety of his coaching career. I can't say that I see the logic in an interim manager deserving a shot at the real deal if for no other reason being because they're the interim manager.

Tab is a a part of the problem and an archetype of the established USSF good ol boys network, but no serious candidate is even going to entertain a permanent offer prior to USSF elections.

This is a scenario where an interim manager is really the only way.

The more I think about it, realistically it’s like 2 years before we play any games of consequence so I guess it’s actually quite a long interim period, if you will. I’d be fine give Ramos that interim tag after all. It’s not a brief interim period at all if we are being realistic.

I agree with your pause on Ramos, but imo I am fine letting him in in a care taker role I suppose, if that makes sense.

Bedoya is a good dude, serviceable in multiple spots on the field, and a team leader. I can see him sticking around for squad unity and to mentor the younger players.

Man this team looks energetic. Unlike the piss poor team we threw out there for WCQ.
