OZARK [A Netflix Original Series | Season 3 | 2019??]

It still annoys me that Ruth has to cuss every single sentence
It makes sense for her character based on the life she's lived. Her whole family is are f***-up, low level criminal, trailer park trash. She had to raise her brothers because he dad was in and out of jail. I understand why she has a rough exterior. They've done a good job of developing her character.

Helen was scheming the whole time.

Getting the casino license and the FBI confession in silence was pretty amazing. She was really about to get the Byrd's killed.

The best scene of the season was when Wendy called Navarro to chastise him for ruining the horse farm deal and Navarro snapped at her. Lol did Wendy think that they were friends and equals?

Also, remember when Helen asked Nelson if he would let her know if he ever got the call to take her out and he said Yes? Cold world

My opinion on what their long-term play should be:
If I'm the Byrd's, I'd take the deal from the FBI, go to prison for 18 months, and then work for the FBI.

My biggest hang up with the deal would be, how would the FBI ensure that no none of Navarro's men would kill the Byrd family or Marty while he's in prison? (I'm not really sure how the FBI can guarantee his or his family's safety)

Really think about it, everything they're doing is a house of cards waiting to get toppled. You work for a violent, emotionally erratic drug dealer (remember how Navarro punched his housekeepers teeth out and had her killed?) in the middle of a drug war that you are now a part of. You know these people will kill you the moment you slip up in a slightest. look at Helen, she was a soldier until the end and still got killed like it was nothing. Even if Navarro wins this drug war, there's always going to be another drug war.

Not to mention their situation with the the Snells, the constant FBI pressure with the audits and intimidation, etc. Really, how long is this sustainable? Everything they do is hanging on by a thread. How many innocent people need to get killed by dealing with the Byrd family? I can already name at least six or seven who've been killed so far.

It doesn't make good TV, but cutting a deal with the FBI is the obvious choice.

What really sucks is Season 4 definitely ain’t coming out for over a year. Netflix for whatever reason still hasn’t even officially renewed it for another season yet even though the showrunner said they plan on doing 5 seasons. It’ll definitely be renewed but this corona **** is gonna realllly delay filming for everything right now.

Do we really know this show us getting renewed for a fourth season? Netflix does a poor job of building up anticipation and advertising their content. You won't hear anything for a year, then two weeks before a show drops, they show a trailer and that's it. It's always been weird to me that Netflix spends billions of dollars on content only to not promote it.

Also, we can't really gauge the popularity of a show because Netflix doesn't release their viewership numbers like traditional TV channels. We think (and hope) that Ozark is a popular show but we really don't know. The way they ended season 3, they would have to be confident they're getting renewed or else that's an all-time cliffhanger ending for a series.

I Corona virus is going to have a huge effect on the film and TV industry. Just about every major studio has completely shut down production, which will delay series premieres on the back end.

Season 2 of Ozark came out in August 2018, over 18 months ago. I'd expect a similar wait, if not longer, this time around. We might have to wait until late 2021 before we get season 4 (early 2022?)

Netflix now has that daily top 10 most watched in the country on their platform. Ozark has been in the top 3 of that every day since the new season released. And damn near everybody I know that watches Netflix heavy like that watches Ozark and loves it. Netflix would have to be complete idiots to not sign on for however many seasons of Ozark the showrunner wants to do.

Wendy was tough til it came to her actual family.

That was her little brother, and she did it for her family. Because if she didn't make that sacrifice, she realized it would have been all of them. She did it for her kids.

Just finished Season 3. All I can say is wow. This show is Breaking Bad-level greatness. This show does an amazing job of building and maintaining tension.

Slow your roll

Finished S3
This is one of the best shows in terms of pacing and the fact that each season has been better than the last. They just keep upping the ante.
Whoever plays Darlene is a standout to me. Can't stand people like her. Ben was great too. He reminded me of myself watching the first 2 seasons of this show and just yelling at the TV how ****ed up all this is:lol:

If there is a comparison of BB to be made it's definitely that every actor plays their role perfectly and makes the most of their screen time regardless of the size of the role. These characters are setup to make you feel all types of ways about them and the actors play them brilliantly to get those reactions from the audience.

Trying to make the best out of a bad situation but if we do have a long wait and its gonna show with those kids getting older. Might be cool to see the characters in the thick of their various work relationships down the road and see how run down they get from the lifestyle.

Maybe I wasn't paying full attention but how did Navarro find out Helen was making moves behind his back? The only occasion I remember was when Wendy called him about the Ben situation. Was there something else?

She wanted to end the business relationship between the byrds and Navarro cartel. She also asked to takeover all enterprises after his girlfriend was killed. She was plotting while he was vulnerable

Everybody had to sacrifice a family member. Literally, a person or two Every season. It was the Byrd’s turn. That’s why Ben was brought in.

Whole show, is about wittingly and unwittingly killing your family.

correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that Helen did anything behind in Navarro's back. They had an explicit conversation where she asked to take control of the Byrd's assets and Navarro gave her approval.

The only thing that she did that might have been behind his back was get the written confession from the FBI, which we're assuming he doesn't know about.

Wendy said multiple times that in order to beat Helen they would have to show Navarro that they were more valuable than she was. Maybe they accomplish that by offering to end the drug war?

I'll stick with my original prediction that we will learn early next season that Helen's daughter told her dad and others about her mother working for the drug cartel. Helen even said her daughter wasn't built like the Byrd kids. Either her daughter told or will learn something else that Helen was up to.

I can't think of any other reason why he would kill someone that close to him so abruptly, prior to that she had always done one Navarro had told her.

He didn't.

He gave the okay for her to expand her role in the casino if Navarro wanted to end things with they Byrd after what went down with Ben and the fact that Marty still wasn't laundering money at the pace he wanted.

Wendy then let Navarro know how loyal they were due to the fact she gave her brother up.

Navarro then made a judgment call and decided to kill Helen cuz she never showed that depth of loyalty or made any kind of sacrifice. Plus she's been slipping all season.

ben gotta be the WORST character on this show.
The bipolar character is the worst character on the show?

Just finished the season. Without giving anything away.....god i hated ben. Idc how good his acting was...he deserved it.
Darlene is wild annoying and the her and Wyatt thing is so cringe. I also don't understand why she wants to start business back up again. Like you are getting Casino money...why mess that up.

Only people i like are Ruth and Marty.

And i agree with atlsfinest atlsfinest on the Helen thing. Unless Navarro saw Helen asking to take over Byrd enterprises as her not staying in her lane and he didn't need that. But idk it didn't seem like Navarro really knew a ton of Helen vs Byrd thing. So i agree that in the next season there will be a scene where Navarro states "i knew helen was going to get you to sign that confession and that would come back on me so i needed her gone"

edit: I think it was strange because Helen had a very important skill, she was a lawyer and got many people out of many situations. So unless they got another dirty lawyer on deck i kind of thought no matter what Wendy did Navarro would always side with Helen. Thats why i think there has to be more to just off her like that

She made that pretty clear.

Wendy moved on her trying to make her lose custody of Zeke. That basically got her back in to trying to rebuild her empire.

She believes in local ppl owning their own thing in the community. She has a big chip on her shoulder as far as that country girl versus city girl gripe given she thinks Wendy is a city girl (since she moved from Chicago) that thinks she's better than her.

Don't know why she's given so much respect or treated like she has power by that ***** *** sheriff.

Ben was a great addition to the show. He gave one of the best betrayals of being bipolar I've seen some TV. He went from loving and kind to completely off his rocker. He wasn't a savvy or strategic like the other characters but that's the whole point.

The really sad part is that he put Wendy in an impossible situation. She tried to save him but he was sabotaging every effort she made (going to Helen's house and telling her daughter and then calling Helen when they're at the rest stop). She had no choice but to turn him into the cartel. It was either been or her and her entire family.

I really liked Ben's character. It was a great portrayal of mental illness. He can go from kind and caring to completely crazy. It was frustrating to watch because he kept sabotaging himself, but that's how things are with bipolar people in real life.

Darlene is meant to be a foil for Marty. Marty runs off of logic, reason and lack of emotion and Darlene is exact opposite. You're right, a logical person wouldn't risk restarting an opioid business when you have millions of dollars coming in from a casino but Darlene doesn't run off of logic. She's completely emotional.

This contrast is put in focus when you see how different Darlene and Marty handled Ruth getting best up. Marty wouldn't touch Frank Jr but the moment Darlene found out about it, she went there and shot him. Dealing with people like that is especially difficult because they're unpredictable and you can't reason with them.

She's more focused on her "principles" (No matter how misguided they are) and protecting locals than she is money

Regarding Helen, getting someone You can trust like that is difficult. Helen was a good soldier who always followed orders and did was necessary. The only way I can see Navarro killing her was if she messed up very badly (ie her daughter telling other people about the cartel)

The sheriff owed the Snells a debt. Dont know what the debt was though
