Places to go around central park

Gonna be in central park for a day and wanted to know what to do. Would like to aviod the touristy spots but if they are worth it ill go. Looking to go where the locals go. Thanks

Central park is kind of next to everything..but as far as inside the park goes: take aboat ride at the boat house, eat the best waffles at waffles & dinges
