    Thanks Meth for starting this.

Really hits close to home as this is where my Mom and her sisters are from. Oldest brother was born there and middle brother died as a premature and is buried there. Been there countless times.

On behalf of my fellow country men back home, I would like to say thank you to NT for this fundraiser. Your help will go a long way.

Will donate tonight when I get back from work.

Donated and proudly as I've always done so on NT. Thank you Meth for this thread once again as you've reliably and relentlessly done so in the past years giving our community an opportunity to have an impact in grave global occurrences. No matter how minuscule!

    Then we'll raise our goal.

Realistically, it's looking like we'll be halfway to our initial goal at the close of day one.  $1,000 in 24 hours isn't bad, but I know we can do better if we pull together.

Hopefully this fundraiser will prove helpful, and, given the scale of destruction wrought by typhoon Haiyan, we need to do all we can to help out and show our support.

Our friends in the Philippines have supported us practically from day one.  It's no secret that many NikeTalk members, like @kingcrux31  , live in or have family in the Philippines.  This disaster struck perilously close to home for many of them and some have undoubtedly been personally affected as well.
There's an old Ethiopian proverb that states, "When spiderwebs unite, they can tie up a lion."  While binding a lion may not sound like a very worthwhile goal, I think the implications are clear.

Collectively, we have the resources to address what none of us could individually.  $25 here and there adds up.  We've proven that with previous fundraisers.  Even if it seems as though our grand totals are a little less than grand when compared to the scale of this disaster, bear in mind that we've built entire schools and libraries for just $20,000.

Although it's estimated that 7,000 schools may have been damaged, each one of us knows full well just how much of a difference the presence of ONE community school can make.

Whatever we raise, I have full confidence that Mercy Corps will use it to make a lasting difference in the lives of those who've suffered as a result of this terrible tragedy.  And I promise you the contribution will not seem minuscule to those who need it most.
As I'm sure this disaster underscores that there are indeed worse situations in life than being a "broke 19 year old."

It's admirable that you've recognized this and have chosen to leverage those advantages you do have in life to help those less fortunate.

I'm sure I speak for everyone here in saying that I appreciate your sacrifice - and, as I hope this fundraiser makes clear, we have to express our values in both word AND deed.

So, to show our appreciation for your sacrifices and to assist the people of the Philippines, NikeTalk will match ALL donations made through our fundraising page over the next 30 days, up to a total of $10,000.

You dig deep; we dig deep.  We're all in this together.

No lie, that post made me tear up a little man. I'm 100% Filipino. Although I was born here, I'm devastated. My parents are heartbroken at watching their homeland get destroyed.

I said this in the other thread but I'll say it here again. It's my mother's 60th birthday coming up this weekend. She never ever asks for a birthday or Christmas present from my family. My brother and I insisted that she allow us to get her something for such a big birthday. She calls me up this past Saturday and tells me to donate all the money I had saved up for her birthday.

Goes to show how strong those Filipino ties are, even if you aren't blood related. Love my mama dukes man

    Hey meth,

is there way to have pop up on the mobile version about the fundraiser, or have it at the top of every page? I usually browse NT on my iPhone and don't typically check the home page, which I think may be the case with a lot of people. I just happened to come across a pic on Instagram from an NTer talking about donating. I just think there's a good amount of people who don't even realize the fundraiser is going on.

    just a thought

Thank you for doing this NT fam...

Even me living in the Philippines, I choose to donate thru international fund raisers like this one, rather than through the local Philippine government, because corrupt officials will always take advantage of a disaster like this.
