Please contribute to relief efforts in Japan! Together, we've raised $20,000 and counting!

I am really proud of you all right now.  #NT is really stepping it up tonight.  I honestly didn't think we'd be nearly halfway to our goal after just a few hours.  If this keeps up, we may have to raise the bar even higher!
Do you think we can raise $1,000 together in 24 hours?

It is possible to donate to Mercy Corps online via PayPal, but, since it's an indirect method, it will not be counted towards our community total.
Here's the link:  http://www.mercycorps.org/give/otherways

Be advised, too, that by using the PayPal form your donation will also go to their general fund and will not be directed to the relief efforts in Japan specifically.

So, if you can manage it, a direct donation via http://www.mercycorps.org/fundraising/niketalk would be ideal.

Donated right after seeing that first person video footage in the other (long) thread.

Damn man, for me

Just donated, great stuff people. Meth, I think you definitely set the bar low we're up around 700 in one night.

Everyone make sure you also donate to the Red Cross if you're able, they've always been a go-to organization.

I know the 1000 will be reached, but my question is will you still be able to donate after the goal is met? I put in my donation BTW

Thanks so much, everyone.  I'm really impressed and touched by your generosity.

We've raised over $700 together in just a few short hours - and it's only taken us 26 donations to get there. I was hoping we could encourage 100 people to donate $10 each - instead the mode has been $20 and the mean is over $27. That's amazing.  With tens of thousands of users, we've only scratched the surface of our potential - now it's time to dig and see just how much #NT is capable of.

Let's see how quickly we can raise this $1,000 - and then maybe we'll go for another one.   Please continue to get your friends and family involved so we can help Japan recover from this terrible tragedy.

NikeTalk regularly enjoys visits from Japan and it's time to support our friends there in their time of need.

I think it's important for to note, for the benefit of our American users, that the organization Mercy Corps is supporting, Peace Winds Japan, sent a team to Louisiana and donated supplies in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.  Now it's our turn.

Right. Take Donations for a lil more than a day. Extend it for like a one week period or something.

Ill be donating as soon as i can. Im currently broke but illl try to scrap up some kind of $ and help donate.

Did you know that, in just a few short hours, you've already taken NikeTalk into the top 5 of MercyCorps fundraisers for disaster relief in Japan?  http://www.mercycorps.org/projects/japan

I'm sure you can - but perhaps I'll bump the goal up to $2,000 before I sign off this morning just to be safe.

Maybe you should do it now. You posted this thread at midnight EST so I'm sure a majority of regular posters, lurkers, and members in hiding don't even know this thread exists

I suspected 1000 wasn't ambitious enough of a goal. Seeing how many members we have on here we could hit 3000 easily.
