Question About SIm Cards and Possible Stolen iPhone

If someone stole it and removed the SIM card, but i dial the number, would it be getting a busy signal?
I cant tell how i lost it and im trying to rule that out

It would be immediately directed to the voicemail or 2-rings then voicemail. The only issue is if the battery is dead, it would behave the same way.

ok. i probably left it in the ride for sure then. Its not getting service. i hope somebody there finds it

That would be sweet if they found it and gave it back like good people, but they wont.
