Do you need to cut your hair a certain way to obtain a certain hairstyle?  Or could you just get a quick trim and use hairstyling products to achieve the hairstyle?

You probably need to be more specific in your questions.

If you mean could you just get a "regular" haircut and add product and it looks like Brad Pitt or George Clooney, then probably not. Certain cuts and different lengths of hair determine how you can possibly style your hair, that's just common sense. Some styles and cuts are better suited for different hair types... curly, wavy, straight, etc.

If you have a particular style in mind, it's best to bring in a picture and give it to your barber, that way they can cut specifically for that style.

Thanks I was definitely looking for that answer. I'll try a hair stylist instead of a barber shop

I also want to add that the location you choose may depend on your ethnicity. IE Asians and Indians have different hair mixtures than the typical American/Europe dudes.
