-rare flesh eating bacteria rising in jersey,eastcoast beaches/seafood

If I remember correctly, the Vibrio genus has quite a few species that are capable of causing pretty severe food poisoning if ingested or infections if they enter through wounds. These species are not uncommon and can occur all throughout the U.S. V. vulnificus species just happens to be particularly nasty.

Avoid uncooked or undercooked shellfish (especially oysters) and avoid salt water or brackish water if you have open wounds.
