my throat is bothering me but solid post by meth reps. bringing positive vibes to a otherwise w.e monday.
The older I get, the more I find myself actually doing reflecting on this day as opposed to just treating it like a day off of school/work
Very important milestone in honoring Dr Martin Luther King jr.He was a freedom fighter who fought for equal rights for all.he went about it using non violence.if he were alive today I doubt it would notbe wars in middle east,Chicago murder epidemic, and a lot more unity amongst citizrns.he was a legend cut from the same cloth as Mother Theresa,Jesus and ghandi
Truly a great man. A great leader. Something this world needs right now. People willing to die for the greater good to advance society for everyone of every race. It's so sad to see what people (not just blacks but every race) have forgotten about his struggle. Equality is something that is so precious and such a necessity, and society has found a way to dilute it. No matter what shoes you buy, or what car you drive, where you live, or how much money you have, we are all EQUAL! No one is better than the next.
I came into this thread thinking there's was an issue with the time format. Like, why is it saying 1/21/13 on the OP, it's not tomorrow yet. Maybe the site is trippin'.
Waking up and checking my instagram feed, NBA posts a number of quotes by MLK. Needless to say, the comments section proves year after year that we still have a long ways to go. But thank you, for inspiring a generation, leading a nation of people, and taking those important first steps towards unity, equality, and justice.
Well said. Greenwald wrote a devastating piece to this end. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/jan/21/king-obama-drones-militarism-sanctions-iran
This year will mark 50 years since the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Crazy to think that it was only 50 years ago!
All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man ruleth over another to his own hurt.
Great post. I'm very thankful for the efforts of Dr. King, and all of the many Americans that joined him.
I was in DC today and I visited the monument, and these Isralite clowns were down there, spreading there message of hate and stirring up trouble down there. I was kinda pissed cuz they could have taken the day off but never the less the sacrifice is much appreciated.
Long read, but worth it. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/...-no-idea-what-Martin-Luther-King-actually-did
Had a long conversation with my god father who has been a literally a card carrying member of the NAACP since it's inception & my step father in law who was a black panther back in the day (also fought in Vietnam) that basically touched on the themes discussed in this song. Kinda ironic I came across it today. Also RIP to Amiri Baraka AKA Imamu Amear Baraka AKA LeRoi Jones AKA Everett LeRoi Jones. Not sure I agreed with everything you said & did but I'm thankful that you added to the dialogue & view of the world.
