I just wanna say my boy just turned 6 and goes to a predominantly white school and came home and blew my mind. Told me all about MLK last week, from I had a dream all the way to james earl Ray. They did do a little white washing about the times back then but I sat him down and began to teach him his history. We going to the library this weekend and reading up on more stuff but it low-key got me excited.
School is definitely what divided me because I never learned about any of this from my parents. and after a while the WWF and MTV would raise me as well as Cosmopolitan Fashion Magazines I learned that N Word in 2nd grade, when I was 7 from when they taught us about MLK... some kid used it and then the Black teacher started to flip out calling him all sorts of slurs (This was the early 90's so I'm old but you could do that stuff back then Lol) It was crazy.... I was just sat there like... My teacher was Mrs. Marshall, I went to school with her daughter Angela, times were perfect it seemed until that class brought tension to those kids at school.. beforehand I was thinking about who was going to take the IC title from Mr. Perfect at the time he was my favorite wrestler..... But I never heard anyone in my family ever say it, and it was a shock to me that my Grandma had a black nurse come to her house ... she's probably the 2nd black person that I know besides my cousin to step foot in that house LOL!! fast forward to a couple years ago... My Distant Mexican Cousins shared a video on Facebook of their kids getting beat up by Black kids on a School Bus.... They didn't fight back I unfriends and blocked that whole branch of the family on my FB for gods grace that we don't have the same last name. How you going to sit there and get beat up, and what did you do to provoke them? LOL I don't give people advice but if I could give them advice I'd tell them to LEARN TO FIGHT I don't get down with that "FEEL SORRY FOR THE VICTIM" story then you go home and drink monsters, don't bathe, and show up to the family reunion in a stained Call Of Duty tee shirt all out of breath and the first in line for "a plate" and you're only 13 damn years old.. That sounds like a Straight path to VIRGINITY TOWN
