Lately, we've been having some problems with users attempting to submit inappropriate avatars, pictures, and posts to our forums, to the point where it's clear that many of you need a refresher course on NikeTalk's policies.

    From our rules page:
The use of graphic sexual language is also prohibited.

This has been our policy since we opened our doors thirteen years ago.

Basically, if it's not safe for work, it's not safe for NikeTalk.  Our forums are intended for a wide audience.

If you violate these rules, not only will you be held accountable but, for better or worse, our entire community is held accountable as well.

We currently rely on Google AdSense to help us cover the costs of hosting and maintaining this website.

They have a similar policy to ours and, when users are following the rules, there should be no conflict.

There have been so many violations of late, however, that AdSense units have been pulled from the General forum.  You'll notice that, at the moment, there are no ads on the General forum page at all.  As the General forum is currently our most popular forum, this is a significant problem.

These are the rules that users are breaking on our site that also carry consequences for our website as a whole:
It's not JUST about violating some arbitrary policy or about basic consideration for other users who may be browsing in public places, homes with young children, etc.

Such violations are hindering our ability to maintain our community and raise money for charity.

    We have to do better.

Be sure to follow our forum rules at all times and if you do come across a violation, please click the little flag image beneath the offending post to report it to our staff for removal.

Absolutely not.  This would only encourage more users to post inappropriate content to our forums.  We didn't create NikeTalk so 15 year olds would finally have a place to talk about porn on the Internet.

If you lower the standards in one area, you're effectively lowering standards across the board.

No.  I'm not going to prohibit people from posting pictures of people they find attractive - so long as those images are in compliance with our policy.  If you can see it in a TV ad or on a billboard that would appear in a public place, that's fine.  It would be silly to ban you guys from participating in those types of threads if, for all we know, an ad with a swimsuit model may be served by Google AdSense at any given moment.

What we DO have a problem with are posts where those images go BEYOND what you'd find on network television and in advertisements appearing in public places.  (e.g. the "extreme close-ups", etc.)

All I'm asking is that you guys keep it sensible, tasteful, and safe for a wide audience.

We also obviously have a problem with people requesting links to celebrity sex tapes, discussing pornography, or otherwise creating lewd and inappropriate content on our forums.

I thought i was the only one that thought the images and the content posted recently in the forums were getting a little out of hand. Thanks for reiterating the rules meth.

You were that kid who asked the teacher if the class had any homework for the night at the end of class when she'd forgotten to assign any, weren't you?

Sounds good to me. I enjoy NT's humor and discussion, but don't care for all the sexual stuff that's been being posted lately.

I feel like there are a thousand sites out there for people to view if that's what they want... There isn't need for it here on NT

    Thanks Meth :pimp:
