I'm not really familiar with this shoe and want to know whats up? I hear the hotter it gets, the more comfortable because it molds around your foot.
It is an extremely thin molded polyurethane, which is a highly-developed synthetic material developed by Nike engineers in conjuction with Daewoo, the samecompany that makes cars and stereos. It was a long process to perfect this material, but out came something that is unprecedented in the shoe market andprovides so good of fit, that you may feel as though it is an extension of your foot. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but it will eventually mold to yourfoot in a way that will make you literally go, "Wow!" Instead of multiple pieces of leather, there is just one whole piece of Foamposite materialthat bathes your foot in a very comfortable shell.
i guess i must be the only one that dislikes foamposite. it looks cool but it's heavy and hard. always takes a toll on my knees when i ball in them.
foamposites is good stuff, It provides the best fit of any upper you will find. But that initial break in period is nasty
Faomposite is a foam composite that is injected into a mold to from a shoe's upper. The strength and pliability helped bring about two advances in shoe design: 1)new, organic shapes and 2)the elimination of the midsole (the upper attaches directly to the outsole).
i don't what the big deal is about foamposite. i don't feel that it does a better job than leather. i like it though, and the shoe designs that foam has been utilized with have been great to look at and to play in. it's a good alternative to leather, butit's no the end all be all.
IT WAS A BREAKTHROUGH SHOE. One of the greatest shoes of all time. very ahead of its time. strictly for ball but if you ask me. wear it 30x and compare it to ads pair... you wont be able to tell the difference. unless it has a clear sole. ^ when did you get a medical degree? all i know is that this week (monday to thursday) i balled in foam pros, 2k4s, flight huaraches, and jordan 2s.. and the day after i played in the foam pros, my knees hurt. didn't happen any of the other days.
I tried on a pair this week. The niketown sales dude and I had a good laugh about how uncomfortable they are brand new. The feel like you've got the tinman's boots on. I guess I'll have to trust y'all that they get comfortable with wear. 200 is out of my price range either way. I'm curious, is foam's big advantage durability? I know it's not weight, or out of the box comfort. Do they last forever?
I worked for NIKE Basketball Research and Development, and in my experience, knee pain, or any other joint pain, is not associated solely with the uppermaterial of a shoe. It's usually a result of either insufficient cushioning, an unforgiving playing surface or a bad overall fit. Foamposite shoes are generally heavier, requiring slightly more energy to move, making your muscles sore, not your joints. As far as durability, I still have two pairs Air Flightposite II KG TB that are like new after several years of regular use.
Foamposite is as lightweight as it could possibly be. The real disadvantage to this type of upper is BREATHABILITY. Because it is a seamless, one-piece upperit doesn't have very much room for heat to dissipate. And also, it is an expensive process because the mold is very expensive. Only used in "highend" footwear.
from my experience fit and overall support is the foamposite's greatest strength.A shoe that is created out of one piece of material not 3 or 4 piecesstitched together enhances the shoe's ability to better support your foot because it's just one piece not a bunch stitched or glued together.The fit isanother strength due to the material's ability to form around the wearer's foot and create as close to a custom fit as possible.The foam pro probablyisnt the best example of how the material was best applied..that in my opinion goes to the flightposite series.Menoforegon was right,in terms of one of thedrawbacks but a couple more is the relatively narrow mold most foamposite based shoes have been made in making it feel like I was breaking my foot while tryingto break in the shoe.The only pairs I actually was able to stand were the flightposite 1 and 2.They hurt the first couple times you wear them..most of the timeI recommend lacing them up as if you were when playing basketball and walk around the mall,low impact activities to slowly break in the shoe before bringing iton court.But after they are broken in the fit is one of the best I have experienced in my 15 some odd years of playing basketball and going through shoes.
