One of the best bands + one of the dopest MC's in hip-hop history.

Yes, the vid is from Chappelle's Show, but as sketchy as rap can sound live, The Roots are in a complete class of their own.

Snoop Dogg is a guy who comes to mind who has become a walking caricature.

Roots have stayed true to themselves and are still doing their thing 25+ years later. You can probably count on one hand the rappers or groups who are STILL making good music for over 20 years in rap.

The Roots = :pimp:

I've bought every Roots album that has come out since I was in 6th grade. Love them.

If there's one hip-hop group that I feel compelled to see live, it's The Roots. Not entirely sure why I haven't seen them yet after 17 years of listening to them.

Black Thought is criminally underrated, btw.

Just a great f'in band, Illadelph Halflife and Things Fall Apart are must haves for any hip hop fan.

I agree...personally, I think he's one of the 10 best MCs dead or alive.

Speaking of him being underrated, how about this U2 tribute? Dude can sing also.

The last album that had me :wow: with every passing track was UnDun, haven't heard anything remotely close from Hip Hop since then.

Top group for me.

Def one of the illest to catch live. I've seen them 5 times live and they never disappoint!

I actually met Black Thought on the day of my wedding. He was passing through the lobby as I was heading to the ceremony. Told him I was a big fan of The Roots and to come by the reception after their concert.

Amazing. Just Amazing.

This is so f'n dope yo.:pimp:

I've seen em live but wasn't supposed to. Heard about this concert on the lawn at CMU one year and made it my business to make it. Was not disappointed
