Whenever I do a shoulder workout, particularly shoulder press, my triceps get incredibly sore after. Its sore further down my arm ontop of my elbow unlike whenI isolate my triceps and get sore in the upper area.
The difference is the soreness from the isolation workout feels consistent with regular soreness from a good workout, but the soreness after a shoulder pressworkout in my lower tricep is a strange one. And, its very hard to stretch to make things worse

Whats the problem here? Or is it pretty normal

You may be feeling pain in your elbow tendons.

If the pain feels abnormal to you then I suggest you just do other shoulder exercises that are pain free for you.

Sounds like its more like elbow pain rather than tricep pain (which is pretty common).

did you already work them out? possibly from bench or arm work outs? if you havent already worked them out then its probably not normal,

its not like your arms arent affected from shoulder presses, your tris do play a role in actually bringing the weights to the top

it could also be the case of your delts being strong enough for the motions but your tris not, maybe you need to work your tris more

This cannot be said enough: You need to properly warm up before you work out. I'm talking in general here, not saying that you specifically don't. Getyour blood moving, your proper warm up stretches, etc. Then go lift. A lot of people do not make time to do this and they often start to see the nagginginjuries or pains. I was one of them myself.

As others have said, check your form, your weight, and try moving to something different for now along with that.

You're prolly bending your arms at a really weird angle...putting undue stress on your elbows.

That happens to me when I do dips.

Sounds like it - you only need to get to level with your shoulders. Either that or you're pushing your elbows out in front of you.

Other than that I can't see how you'd be using the distal part of your tricep much in that exercise.

Thanks for the help

Yes, I think I am dipping it quite low. In fact, I thought thtas what you were supposed to do.

I will make a note of that!

When you do a shoulder press, if you bring the bar down and touch your chest you will be giving yourself a better workout..that's what I was told at least.I started doing it that way and have no problems my shoulders are definitely improving.
