Am I alone in this? I have been traveling so have been to a lot of tourist locations. I am in China and there are people holding up their tablet recording what their tour guide is saying...as if this is something you want to watch over and over and show people?

I was at the Terracotta Warriors pit in Xian (China) enjoying the magnitude of it, and thinking about the history behind it. I had a nice spot and was able to see everything. 6 different people asked me to move so they could stand there and take pictures. That doesn't make me so mad, since at least it is pictures of people and a chance to capture that moment. What irks me the most is being inside a museum and people just taking a picture of everything inside, and not even knowing what the stuff is. Ridiculous.

It only irritates me when it actually affects me. For example, when someone's flash goes off and it hurts my eyes.

You sound very mad. Ol boy is mad at people taking pictures while they are on vacation.

Pull your skirt down, b.

I feel you on a certain level. I think I have become hyper sensitized to this because I do not have any social media accounts. The other night some clown sitting courtside at the Spurs Grizzlies game was snapping pictures of the crowd with 20 seconds left while the Spurs were running offense. All I could think was how do you spend thousands of dollars to sit courtside and not pay attention to the game? In general, I think that social media has become the sole source of entertainment for a large segment of our population that people are conditioned to get more enjoyment out of getting likes and peer attention via social media than they get from the action itself. I ain't eem mad at em doe. Let em cook. Who are we to set some kind of moral standard that others should have to conform to.

If i'm in a popular tourist area, then I automatically expect to see plenty of people taking pictures. I get it. What I don't get is people recording video and taking photos on a iPad or tablet.

I remember going to the Clippers game in Dec 09 where Baron Davis hit the game winner against the C's. Everyone had their iphones out for the last possession, but I didn't because I just wanted to enjoy the moment, rather than worrying about getting the best angle or whatever.

it's about capturing the moment, it may be their first and only time they get to see that thing in their life. i take a lot of pics, yea i use some for facebook/instagram but more importantly is just for memories.

live and let live.

I like to take pictures of things. But I dont like having my picture taken.

So yea if I'm on vacation or somewhere really nice I'll snap a few pics of the scenery just to have. I never post on any social media like that though, I usually just keeps the pics for myself. I have no problem with other people taking pics or asking me to take a pic of their family real quick or something though.
