what's wrong with being a park rat? That's all we do in the Midwest. We don't have mountains. We have crappy snow and rails. 
Whoever was looking for boots check thirty two out. Just saw the 2016 joe sextons and they are
his boards are dope too. Public is gonna be killing it once they get into stores. Super nice boards.

it was a spontaneous day trip. Left SF at 5am, arrived at Boreal at 9am, left the park at 7pm, back home around 12am (stopped in Sac for ChickFilA). A tiring day trip but i had fun.
I want to buy my own gear and im in no rush but i definitely wanna cop boots first. I want Nike boots but apparently Nike is out of the snowboard game
The Vapen & Zoom Force 1 models are so nice but i cant find any in my size

Awesome. I'm from So Cal too. These are the best conditions locally I've seen in over 5 years. Mammoth is getting nuked as well. Planning on heading up there next week,

Do you guys use stomp pads? Pretty annoying when my foot slips off after getting off the lift. Almost pulled my groin yesterday lol

I don't use em. I just lock my foot against my back binding. Definitely have nothing against using stomp pads though.

put your stomp pad near your back foot instead of dead middle of your board so your stance can be closer to normal and you can get off the lift easier

I had a stomp pad. I actually put it on when i got off the lift and lost it instantly. Lol.
I changed out my bindings for some "Flows". So I don't need a stomp pad anymore. I know people don't like flow bindings but I like them cause I can clip in right away.

them damn ski lifts scare the **** out of me lol last year as we were getting to the very top of the hill it was windy as hell man thing just kept shaking back and forth. even tho it was cold i felt my palms sweating real bad i was holding on for my life. im not afraid of heights or anything but these damn ski lifts are no good for me

I've only used goggles if they are Gucci goggles.
But in all seriousness I've only encountered one time where I did need goggles and it was a snow storm.

I have no issues getting off the ski lift. Only problem is when Im stopping afterwards, my foot tends to slip off and I go flying especially since the slope going down after was slightly steep
Edit: I dont have a stomp pad FYI. Was just curious if it helps a lot or not

I SB'd a few times without a stomp pad and jumping off the lift was always the part that made me nervous. It's amazing how much confidence my stomp pad gave me after

Imagine steering with your front foot, like put all your pressure through that to turn and stop.
Had the whole union team come through my restaurant last night for some food. About to turn it into a snowboarder bar. all cool guys of course.

A stomp pad helps a lot for those wondering. Also make sure you put the stomp pad on correctly. Meaning clean the area you are going to be putting it and then heat up the area with a blow dryer so the glue from the stomp pad sticks to the top sheet. This is the stomp pad I use, sticks to my boot like glueView media item 1878540

That's awesome. I'm a big fan of Union. I've had my Force Airblaster bindings for about 8 seasons now with no major issues. The only thing I've had to replace was a buckle. They're just simple, well made bindings.

Apparently I chose exactly the right time to get back on the board haha, hadn't been riding for 10 years.
I'll be in Mammoth for Super Bowl weekend, always used to be the quietest weekend on the mtn. Hope it's epic. Let me know what you see up there.

Arc'teryx gear is ridiculously expensive. Unless you have the money to blow or you're really into the hobby, then I would suggest looking into cheaper gear. Especially if you're a beginner.
Headed to Mountain Creek this weekend. I'm not a big fan of that place as it tends to get overcrowded but I'm fiendin' to get a few hours in the snow so I'll take it
I've been to Mountain Creek a few times and didn't enjoy myself. The conditions were very poor, the lifts needed work and the trails were underwhelming. If you're into the park, they do have a fantastic area for that. But then again, you can find better options out in PA.
I'd suggest you look into places like CamelBack Mountain, Blue Mountain or even Windham Mountain upstate. Mountain Creek is pricey as well.
Unless it's snowing, very bright out or you're going really fast then you don't need goggles. I wear goggles all the time, but that's because I bomb the mountain. I went to Okemo a few weeks ago and visibility was TERRIBLE. We're talking 10 feet visibility around the summit. Tried going down a black diamond and had to take my goggles off just to see through the fog. Needless to say, it didn't help.
A really good pair of goggle are expensive though. If you're starting out, I'd suggest you get a cheaper pair first and then get something a little better when/if you really get into it. I currently have 2 pairs of Electric EG2's, Oakley Airbrake's and a pair of Smith's. Looking into the new Nike Commands this season.

Yeah man. I've never owned them but if I didn't have my burtons that's what I'd have got instead. I got some commission burtons that don't exist they just collabed with 1817 and made a few. They are basically super cartels with a few things changed . Super comfortable and simple bindings as well.
Super complex bindings are dumb as hell to me. Just more screws to lose and stuff to break.
