STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Running a half marathon this Sunday bros. Taking it easy this week and just doing short and easy runs. No crossfit til next week.

Im still getting into my routine but i work 7:30 to 4 and by the time i drive home and get to the gym its about 5:30 usually out by 7.
Im in bed by 10:30 or 11 most nights. U spend your free time more wise when you have a jam packed day i feel. I dont really browse the interwebs at home anymore nor do i have time for video games. Its work, workout and spend time with my girl. I really dont miss the stuff that i used to do in my free time honestly and its given me something to look forward to in the day.

My weekdays DEAD ON. Need to find good healthy lunch options with LITTLE SODIUM.. cant even do llunch meat with all that

you should really look to cook your meals once or twice a week. i spend sunday and wednsday evening prepping my meals for the week when i work full time (out of the house by 7, home at 7, workout from 730-9, study from 930-11, sleep).

this week i cooked up some chicken breasts with a little pesto sauce, roasted some sweet potatoes, and grilled some asparagus. fairly healthy and tastes good, IMO.

This internship stuff is terrible. Sit at a desk for 8 hours aday, usually eat out (even if Subway) then you come home and your tired from SITTING all day.

When I'm done I might do a 4 day a week regimen, with some days doin AM/PM stuff (Work in out and accessory work/ball later on) Does anyone do it? Whats your schedule /split like?
Soundtrack to my life.

If I'm not setting up networks, I'm at my desk data doing data entry or Web Surfing. The only way that I've found to be useful is getting those early morning workouts in.  5am/6am depending on when I decide to report to work. I've tried in the past to go after work and I must say the motivation is never there to deal with ppl and the crowds, early morning is ALWAYS less than 30 ppl in the gym.

To tell you the truth it takes a few weeks to get used to it, but now my body wakes up automatically craving to go. And when I get to work I'm so full of energy, it's like I took a natural caffeine pill the way I bounce around the office.

My workout days are usually my work week. Mon & Thurs (Upper); Tues& Friday (Lower) [I typically do mid/hi-intensity cardio most of those days, tryna lose the fat)

Since it's been about a month of this routine I'm thinking about switching up the body parts days while adding newer exercises

Some Saturdays I get that extra cardio session in just for good measures . Sundays are always rest. I spend this days with the family and GF so they don't feel like I'm abandoning them since I fall asleep most nights way before 10pm.

Nightly routine usually consist of ironing my clothes/ packing the gym bag, laying out the gym clothes so it's easily accessible, packing my lunch/snacks, & sometimes preparing my breakfast (usually oatmeal).

It's a lot of work, but practice makes permanent.

Anyone workout from home?  I feel going to the gym sometimes is annoying because loud music, etc all the annoying things about the gym.

I haven't trained at a commercial gym for years. I was never a fan of the etiquette most members show, waiting for equipment, atmosphere, certain rules, etc. Some gyms are different, but have other issues(price, distance, etc.). You don't need much, even for bodybuilding. Power rack, barbell, olympic plates, bench, and adjustable dumbbells take care of most needs. I have a little more equipment (rings, rope, stall bars, etc.). I never have to wait for equipment, can play whatever music I want, train whenever I want, and don't have to go to the gym to train. There is the initial investment in equipment, but you can find great deals on craigslist regularly. Equipment tends to hold its value as long as you don't destroy it too, so it can effectively be free for you when you decide to sell it.

Opposite for me. I have no motivation lifting with no one around.

Even though I'm only benching 95 lbs, I'm starting to get my form down. At the start of April, I'm switching to a 4 day split. Not sure if I wanna take a week off from the gym before that though. Over a year strong with no missed sessions by then.

Damn 95.

Terrible workouts these last two days. Probably because I was out drinking all weekend since it was Fake Patties day. Back at it Thursday knowing it'll be better

General surgeon. But your insurance may require a referral or pre-authorization first.

i had an inguinal (sp?) hernia about 8 years ago. i remember exactly how i got it too. i was maxing out on the Dors machine row, didn't breathe out, and just felt a sharp pain where my leg connects to my hip. i had to see my primary physician to get the referral.... to then see a specialist for surgery. i was out about 1 month, no lifting. then another 2 months with no HEAVY lifting.

yea I've been on a Ramadan like eating schedule and i've shed a lot about 3.5 lbs or more a week but I have recently been feeling OD hungry during the day so past few weeks I've been eating to maintence or over on multiple days instead of my normal cheat day, so my weight loss has slowed down to me gaining or not gaining one week and then the week after losing 2-3lbs. I`m not tryna stress out my body so I just go harder in the gym to kinda offset or make my calorie intake not too bad.

I don't trust my back to go ham on my normal regime so I want to make things interesting.

Can someone pick my routine this week.

Going to try to go Tues-Sun

Options:

Chest, Back, Legs, Arms, Shoulders, Core

Arrange the order for me! If you want. I just can't decide.

iLLest!
What? If you're actually hurt, rest. Don't let someone random on the internet pick your routine for you. You know better.

The only difference is that one is in an academic journal, and one is on Niketalk. They are both retrospective, mostly concerning one case. Case studies carry practically zero weight in academic circles, although they can be starting points for changes in treatment regimens, characterization of new illness, etc.

As a physician, you could document pure ******** and write it up as a case report. It happens.

:rolleyes

You do realize there is a huge difference between a peer reviewed academic journal and nike talk, right? lol

No reputable academic journal is just gonna publish some garbage experiment.
This got resolved though right? Peer-reviewed journal articles>whatever else ******** that's out there. That being said, the validity of different journal articles depends and you need to keep that in mind reading them. Also, true that there isn't a lot of legitimate study of most of the supplements out there.

Anyone workout from home?  I feel going to the gym sometimes is annoying because loud music, etc all the annoying things about the gym.
ASsuming I can afford it, once I'm married and own my own house, I'm definitely gonna go for the home gym. At this point, it's not worth it for me to invest in the equipment when I'm probably gonna move soon. Plus I like the social aspect of the gym. That will probably wear off as I age and get married though.

I'm two months away from being a physician. I know what the difference is.

Do you know what a case report is? It's an observation of a given outcome in a given case. It's not an experiment. Someone saw something interesting and decided to write it up.

Academic journals aren't immune to the submission of false reports either. Much easier to make up a case report than a prospective study.

This argument is stupid, so I'll drop it. I apologize for taking it further than it needed to go. The point I ultimately wanted to make was that supplements are RARELY subjected to vigorous academic studies where use is proven to have some benefit. The benefits vary on a person to person basis, which should be kept in mind before making a purchase.
I agree with that last paragraph definitely. The lack of solid scientific study of a lot of aspects of fitness is definitely an issue. I think the whole argument came from different interpretations of the term "case study"

Anyone have any experience with juice cleansing? Looking for some input
I think there's better ways of cleansing - i.e. following a strict paleo diet, but that's just me.

Man it be so hard sometimes when your in a crib full of snacks. Sugary cereals, poptarts, ice cream, dove chocolates.

Idk how I keep sane man
How bout get rid of the ****** snacks? It's much easier to build up some momentum in terms of eating clean if you don't have any temptations in the crib in the first place.

6' 1" 315lbs......

I have a very big frame. Looking to loose are 50-60lbs.....where do I start? Where can i find motivation?
