There is actually a postive reason for this
(we all know the negative reason)
but it's not the person that ask that that can't handle it but possibly the people around her.
they have to ease it in.. because they dont' want to hear the yada yada talk from their peers/parents especially if yall just got together without meeting any of them or them knowing about you.
I'll use an extreme example.
Let's say you're Jewish and their family is Muslim.
The parents and peers will be all on her case for her to dump your or find a way to slander you because she brought someone they weren't ok with it into their lives.
That's just another headache to go through that people don't want to go through.
If you want to ask her why, that's ok atleast find out the reason. as long as she's willing to ease you in.
I've said this myself because of work reasons/religion reasons. (never age reasons though. )

Since bus yambs was a dub, I've moved on to this other yambs. I've known her since freshman year, we're seniors now, and I usually just walk her to class. The occasional flirting (holding hands, feeling on me), but today I put my play into action. I had a dream I was in them guts last week during the school break, so today before I she went into her class (our 6th periods are next to each other) she sees me and feels on my hair, compliments me and I say "Yo, I gotta tell you about my dream, you were in it". She's like im not going to class if you dont tell me, is it bad? I reassure her it's nothing bad. Told her I'd tell her after class, just to leave her wondering the whole period . After class I start walking with her and she's please tell me? whisper it in my ear. While we're walking arm in arm (this aint that friendly arm in arm, it's that couple type ish lmao) and I finally tell her. Suddenly she gets mad interested and starts asking me why would I have a dream like that, what's your mind trying to say? You wish it would happen in real life right? I told her it was one of those in detail dreams, even said she was riding my face

Brahs. I'm at a cross-roads on whether or not to pursue this TA. I'm not looking for yambs; looking for something srs.
As I was walking to class, I noticed she was sitting alone on her laptop. Went and grabbed some stuff from the computer room and sat next to her. I had a paper for the class on me so I used that as an excuse to bring up a conversation.
We talk about the paper.
Time to go to class so I help her with her computer charger. As we start walking, I bring up another topic (from a project she's working on). She's starts telling me how I should work on my final paper and tells me a technique to make the citing easier. After she explains it, she's like "I'll show you."
At this point she's talking to me and we're really close (in front of the class room). Like awkwardly close, face-to-face.
We continue talking. Walk into class. She sits in the front of the class, so I walk her over to where she sits (she's talking Thanksgiving break). I contemplate sitting next to her, but didn't want to come off as overly thirsty, so I walked to where I usually sit.
Makes me feel like a high schooler all over again.

This woman proceeds to still walk with you to class( still a sign of interest), talks about Thanksgiving Break, says she will show you how to do your paper and all you can do is come with more excuses. It's one thing to freeze up when you are unsure but how can you be "thirsty" if she is giving you a hundred signs to holla at her. What do you have to lose and don't come with the excuse, " she might influence my grade," dude this woman clearly wants you to talk that talk. What do you want her to do, get butt *** naked with a sign that says" Hey dummy I am interested in getting to know you"..
I don't even care if I come off as a **** anymore,**** it, easy alley oops like these are some mens dream in life. Hell situations like these alot of lurkers in here wish they could experience. Instead of sounding like a damn Drake song, how about you do this:

What you see as excuses are actually the points that make me anxious.
