I think on my pair it may be due to the fact that they are so old and were pretty heavily yellowed to begin with.  on my more recent pairs I've done it on, it seems to work much better and hold for much longer.

^^^Good news, I just bought a DS pair of Da Beans which I need to get rid some yellowing, but I sure got them for cheap, so I can't complain all that much.....
