OK, so now that the weather is changing in most parts of the country, i've noticed that the room that I keep my sneakers in (in their box) is getting pretty cold. It's much colder then the rest of the house because I close the vents in the winter so it doesn't get real warm. I was wondering what most of you sneakerheads do? In the summer, I have the AC on or make sure the room is chill (with a dehumidifier)... But now that it's cold I was wondering if that ruins the shoe? or is the cold not bad at all. let me know fellaz.

Seasonal change doesn't ruin your shoes....humidity does. I'm 22 and I still have my black & red retro 11's that I wear from time to time since 8th grade that saw every season. But considering that since its cold, you should have less humidity...unless you live in florida.

Official Sneaker Care post.

Cold is good, Humid is bad. Just make sure your shoes don't get exposed to extreme heat or cold (sub zero temps) and you should be fine. That Sneaker Care Post is a goldmine when it comes to questions like this though...

So i'm going to ask this question again much clearer and want to see some more opinions, I also put this in the Sneakercare post.

About storing sneakers during the winter. I have a room I store all my shoes in the boxes, along with other important clothes and items. However, i've noticed that the room is much colder then other rooms in the house. I leave the shoes on the box on the floor of my closet, which is wood... so the shoes are kinda cold. I'd like to know if the shoes are goin to be effected this way or not? since I hear moisture is not so good.

Cold weather won't do harm to your shoes.

Humidity is the death of shoes.

Because basically I open the boxes, and most of my shoes were pretty cold, and because a lot of clear soles (6's, 11's, etc) I was afraid they'll get too cold and begin to get moisty. I just wanted to make sure that theres nothing to worry about because it's a pain in the $#%.

QFT.  Dark and cold is best from what I've been taught.  Closet kept FTW!

You should be good as long as you don't expose these shoes from your room to an extreme temp. change.  Like if it's 68 in the room or whatever don't bring them in like a laundry room with the dryer running.  Not saying that you would do that but that is the best example I can come up with considering your circumstances.  Hope this helps.

It's like 60 in the room and the rest of the house is 70... I keep the room constantly closed. I live in Ohio by the way, but I guess i'm just paranoid about the temperature thing. I know some people been storing and rocking sneakers since the early 90's and know more then I do, even though i've been collectingg for years.

^^ you should be good there IMO. The room I keep all my collectables (shoes and other sports memorabilia) in a separate room also but is at the same temp as the rest of the house (roughly 72-74). The shoes I keep DS are in clear tupperware bins but they are not air tight because I want them to breath. I kept my '00 Concord XI's like that from RD back then and they held up good when I unDS'd them in Sept. for my B-day. Of course they were yellow but I'd say not as bad as it could have been.

Edit:
