Hi guys! I'm new here in niketalk... been a lurker for a while now and recently applied to be a member. Thanks for the approval! I found this forum veryinformative especially with the updates and int'l nike store directories.

I just want to share my nike story. Growing up, i was a big fan of Nike.. I remember getting my first nike somewhere in quiapo (not sure) when i was in 6thgrade. It was a nike air assault (white/red/blue/gray pattern) that i wore proudly at our Christmas party... It received a lot of "binyags" from myclassmates but i didn't mind because i wanted my shoes a bit dirty so it would not catch more attention from my peers. In Highschool, i got my firstjordan... It was jordan 4 in white cement, then i got the jordan 11 low, the black sir charles air max, and a couple more nikes ( i couldn't remember themodels)... ALL those nikes crumbled like dried mud and i was totally disappointed with the brand. I stayed away from nike for a while and found other brandslike New Balance, Asics, Puma, Adidas, chucks. I found the brands ok but i wasn't so happy with the designs and feel...

I totally stayed away from sneakers for years.. I just have one for exercise, a New balance 574. I would wear on rotation havaianas, sperry, rockport, crocsand sanuk.. etc etc. The passion for sneakers died. I survived without sneakers for years.

Last year, i had my second spine operation (caused by congenitally weak discs) that left my back a little bit weak. After the operation, the doctor told me toexpect some lower back pains due to the second incision in my back. True enough, I had the pains after a few months of recovery. I read a lot of literature onlower back pains and found that i need to strengthen my back muscles as well as my abdominal muscles. One tip caught my attention: "Wear Soft/Cushionedshoes to alleviate lower back pains" ... after reading that, guess what went through my mind, the air bubble! the Nike AIR unit! The revolutionarycushioning of Nike!

I immediately searched for a pair of Nike shoes with air sole... went to Ebay.ph and found my match ... An Airmax 90 being sold by kingcrux (thanks man).

The tip was right. Cushioned shoes are really good for the lower back. The lower back pains were not that intense especially if i walk/stand for hours. Thesneaker madness started after that. I bought a lot of nikes and jordans and found my old Love again. Recently, i looked for a more cushioned shoes from nikeand found a lot. My favorites and recent purchases:

    1) Nike start + 2009 (very plush ride, you could really feel the softness of the cushlon midsoles and zoom air unit)
    2) Lunar trainer (Not that soft as the Nike start but the cushioning of the lunar foam is more controlled and covers the whole feet - very good cushioning)
    3) Kobe IV (i am amazed by the cushioning of this basketball shoes, the jordans never felt this soft)

All my jordan fusion 3s aren't that soft but the AJF 20's cushioning is very good.

Thanks Nike for the Cushioning! I will looking forward to more cushioned shoes in the future...

this might sound stupid, but from what iv heard the best way to prevent injuries is to play basketball bare footed. i think alex compton did this for one weekwith the help of a specialist. no wonder when i was playing in my sandals i was never ever injured [IMG]

I've just had my last back checkup... my spine doctor noticed my air max 95, he told me that it's a nice to wear cushioned shoes because it somehowadds another disc to my spine... less pressure on my spine... (fyi, i've had 2 laminectomies already, my 2 lumbar intervertebral discs are congenitallyweak) ... i guess my doctor gave me a license to buy more cushioned shoes.. hehehe thanks doc! The madness is now medically justified hahaha [IMG]
