Beilein to the Cavs
Great hire by the Cavs. Tough for Michigan with the timing.
That hurts bad.
Didn’t see that coming
I don't think many if any did. Not a bad gig at a "football school" to just get through the season, don't embarrass the program as in the past, win a bit, etc. I could only guess tired of the recruiting game, roster attrition, etc.
He figured ain’t nobody coming back he might as well leave too
Good a time as any. Don't have to waste any more time recruiting.
Crazy he made the move that Izzo didn’t potentially make a few years back. Good hire.
Yeah but...the **********ing Cleveland cavaliers!?!?
He basically retired today. Hes not getting near another championship opportunity.
The team he’s coaching for in the nba is irrelevant.
Had to be an offer and opportunity he felt he couldn’t pass up.
He got to final fours and championship games.
The guy is 66 years old, and if coaching at the highest level of basketball has always been a lifetime goal, you take it.
Yup. The ESPN article mentioned that he didn't want to have to move his wife far, so this was obviously a fit, and he didn't want to go to Detroit last summer because of where they are at cap-wise.
Weird that this article (in the tweet) mentions that Beilein made all those statements about retiring at Michigan, with his fam and grandkids in Ann Arbor... but that the AD Warde Manuel knew that he was gone if another opportunity ever came up.
He was at the EYBL all weekend too
^ That would be pretty dope to see.
They kept Juwan on in Miami solely for his repoire with players so that makes sense. Do it, Michigan.
Juwan would be a GREAT hire.
If Penny can make it a Memphis Juwan would be a home run hire at Michigan.
If Michigan is gonna start dropping bags, sure.
My main guy right now would be Jay Wright. I feel like he has a similar philosophy offensively to Beilein where they both want to space the court and shoot threes but I doubt Wright would lead Nova.
No chance Jay Wright leaves Villanova for Michigan.
Jay Wright can get a pro job , he ain't leaving for a non blue blood
Yea, jay wright is kind of a long shot.
Does he have ties to Michigan?
They might as well go for a guy that’s associated with the university or the AD.
Juwan Howard seems like a great fit. Can’t be a day over 50.
