The Combat Jack Show Thread

Fam, I never really made that connection.

He really started the whole song saying 'I left my babygirl a message saying I wont be coming home...I'd rather be alone.'

How did I never really remember that was the setup for the whole song. He bold as **** for that.

Makes me think of this scene:

That second verse is worse
"I think about my life and what matters to me the most.
Girl the love that we share is real, but it time your heart will heal.
I'm not saying I'm gone but I have to find what life is like
Without youuuuuuu"

I'm not gone but I'm not gon be here with you....disgusting

In all honesty though, I get it. I think that's why the song sticks with me to this day. There's a lot of truth in what he's saying, and a lot of us deal with those thoughts at one point or another.

Growing up with then spending your life with the same woman will leave you lacking in a lot of areas. A lot of suckers who get walked all over are the same guys who just stuck with their high school sweetheart and never had to evolve. I really do think that alone or '***' time is vital just to understand the dynamic between men and women and how to handle it. It be sounding selfish and a lot of times it is, but it really is important.

His delivery could use a lot of work, though.

Oh, the message of finding personal happiness and fulfillment is understood
But the girl you been with since y'all was teeny boppers you leave a voicemail saying you outta here? Delivery needs a ton of work

Confessions as a whole is overrated, so many skips on that album. Not even a top 3 Usher album for me.

Yeah
Caught Up
Truth Hurt
Simple Things
That’s What It’s Made For
Take Your Hand
Follow Me

It’s a good album but it’s easily my least favorite album from his debut up until Here I Stand. Once he dropped Raymond vs Raymond he started chasing that pop dance crowd. Looking for Myself had a few songs I really liked, the rest were garbage.

I wish we got the album with him and Rico Love. Rico was trying to write and produce a full Usher album.

Follow Me & That's What It's Made For are two of my favs
I can Caught Up, Simple Things, and Take Your Hand are my least favs but I still let em rock and sing along

You Got It Bad or Burn.

Which one y’all going with?

I’m rolling with You Got It Bad.

U Got It Bad

Usher, 8701, My Way, Here I Stand. He got a lot of joints. I’ve been playing his first album a lot lately, that album is underrated.

Burn for me. I loved that joint and Confessions part two even as young as I was at the time.

nice and slow
will always be my **** though
man i remember i used to spell out my name instead
and had this whole separate rap
to go along with it :lol
