The Conspiracy Theorist Were Right

what does a rape case have to do with his life? there are plenty of places in the world that are safer and more enjoyable to live in than the US

Good christ. The guy is talking about how where he lives is so awesome for him, while ignoring the fact that there are human rights atrocities taking place all around him. But nevermind that. HIS life is PERFECT! RIGHT??? Who cares about everyone else???

He enjoys a better life because he is a male in a country (and region of the world) where all laws favor males. This is NOT up for debate. Ya'll are mesmerized by the giant buildings and hotels, and think they're civilized. They're not. Their laws are incredibly oppressive. Unless, of course, you're a male, and can assimilate into their culture. Dubai is a mirage. Stop buying into their propaganda.

Dude you are really nitpicking segments of my argument. I have already stated clearly that the US is far greater than most parts of the world. I find here far better for me and my family here.

I can tell by your posts that your are one of those people who feels better about themselves by making a point that you will never waver on or concede that may not be valid to someone else.

I don't need to restate my point its in the other posts nor do I need to clarify. What I will say is that for every ****** up story for you find on Dubai/Middle East, I can match tit for tat something ****** up and unjust to someone in the US. You clearly disregard or frankly do care about any of the other points I made for my reasons for being here over the US. You also disregarded my positive notes I made about the US.

You can't read or just choose to be contrary for the sake of being contrary. Or just choose to believe that America's sins or dirty deeds are OK compared to the rest of the World. I'm sorry brother but the rest of the world doesn't wake up every day hoping to be in America. Its your line of thinking that makes people have a negative view of America

you do know that there are "human rights atrocities" in every country in the world right? this includes the US. the three factors he listed (lower cost of living, better education, safer for kids and family) have nothing to do with him being a man. if you have not been to a country and experienced it first hand please leave your ignorance at home, thanks

So, in the United States, do we sentence rape victims to 16 months in jail, on the basis of extra-marital sex?

I'll wait for your answer....oh wait, you don't have an answer. Because that crap would never fly in a civilized nation.

You really are gonna sit here and tell me how life is over here? Based on what again? The articles you've read? You have no idea what its like for me or my family and you have no standing to question my way of life. Who are you question my culture or way of being like you have cornered the market of human existence on this earth. Do you really think that America doesn't have its share of human rights violations? Do you believe your way of life to so superior to mine that you make accusations based on your limited scope of life in the MIddle East?

How bigoted and close minded are you to even begin to lecture me on the way of life of place you have never been too just read about online. This is not North Korea.

I'm Muslim I'm not assimilating to anything. I have seen you on NT before and use to hold your opinion in high regard, but now you are no different than bigots I dealt with my whole life in the states.

and somewhere in dubai people are wondering why anyone would call america a civilized nation because people are getting shot up in the streets

Law, I can agree and in fact I am quite enthused about your sentiments.

But as an African male who has worked with Egyptians for a while( in Africa), I can not agree that Arabs in general see blacks as equals. You are correct that race issues in America are more magnified than in other regions. And being a Muslim helps (my family is Muslim also) but blacks are certainly held at a lower regard with Arabs.

But as you stated, you are speaking from your own personal experience but I am also.

Your are correct I should clarify. As a somali the treatment that I have received is far dirrent than lets say a NIgerian. But here in the UAE african Americans are looked at.just.simply Americans. not second class citizens

this is about the same as it is in china, there is a difference between how africans and african americans are treated (with african americans being treated with more respect).

Ahh, that makes sense. I do have a question though, why would they treat East Africans different than any other Bantu/subsaharan African? And what are the differences?

Seaman up,
Americans of any race will be treated differently than others of the same race (but different nationality) in a different country though.

well kind of, but in china at least people will treat a white guy from america the same as a white guy from europe. i guess there are minor differences but the level of respect is the same

^they have culture in common with east africans in most instances even though there are Muslims in western parts of africa.

The government watches you. I've known that since 9/11 when FBI came to my dads restaurant (he's muslim) and asked him where he's been. I've known that when they strip search me at the airport.

Can you speak more on this? What happened next?

Very true but that is also a westernized country. They wouldn't treat a white Muslim dude from Azerbaijan as they would someone from the western world. Sorry, I didn't mean to make it specifically American.

Wide receiver,
As much as that is true, they don't look, eat or even speak the same Arabic dialect. I can understand proximity and facial likeness(although darker) with East Africans and Arabs, there are as many similarities between west Africans and Berber, moors, touareg,etc...

Why is it that what they do for East Africans has not been done for west Africans? I mean most of us speak French, the same official language in morocco and Algeria?

Not going at you Wr but its a question (that's almost rhetorical) that should be asked.

I heard lighter Arabs still have African slaves in places like Sudan. If I still wanted to live in the dark ages I'd move to somewhere with Sharia law just for kicks.

like you say they share facial characteristics. that's a surface trait and enough for people to gain a commonality. Especially when compared to other phenotypes in other locations.

Looks aand other non verbal clues are usually analyzed first.

yeah true, all cultures have stereotypes/ways they perceive other cultures. they also tend to generalize cultures (usa, europe, canada ect.) that are far away and have more specific cultural stereotypes towards cultures that are closer to them. (by "them" i mean all cultures)

Homie you don't want to mess around with Sharia law. I'm from Somalia and when it was in place there people were being killed for watching the world cups on TV. :smh:

I'm from a place where there are human rigths violations that you couldn't even fathom. Dude geniuely rustled my jimmies

DC when I get back home I'ma respond to your question.

So if I get caught smoking blunt of that sticky in Dubai will I eat throne in prison for the rest of my life?

If I stay out loud "man, Muslims are crazy" is that legal? What if a Muslim really tried to get me on the price of a rug and I had to haggle him down?

Is there Internet porn?

I hear that if I'm homeless level broke, then ill be thrown into jail or forced into labor for no pay. Is this true?

Does my girlfriend or wife have to dress a certain way? Is she allowed to wear pants? Cargo shorts? Does she have to cover her hair?

I got mad questions.

If these are your major concerns in life...might as well stay in the States.
