The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

This isn't surprising to say the least, seems like the UFC just doesn't operate the way you think it should be. Dana doesn't care man

"Man, it’s complicated to talk about it," Silva said when asked about his return to the Octagon. "I didn’t even get a ‘thank you’ from Dana or Lorenzo after my last fight. I was the one who wanted to fight, of course, I took the fight, but I know what I’m worth, my importance. I was really disappointed with the lack of respect from the UFC towards Brazilian athletes. I’m an athlete who took the sport to another level. I don’t get or ever got the respect from people. That made me really upset, sad and disappointed with the UFC."

Silva hasn’t won a fight in five years, losing four of his bouts and having his unanimous decision victory over Nick Diaz overturned after failing a drug test.

"The Spider" says he was offered to be a "plan B" in case something happened to Michael Bisping or Dan Henderson, who battle for the middleweight champion at Saturday’s UFC 204 in Manchester. Silva, who lost to Bisping in a controversial fight in February, is unhappy with the way the offer was presented.

"I didn’t talk to them or anyone after my last fight," Silva said. "They even offered me to stay in standby in case something happened with Bisping or Henderson. But it’s more absurd how that (offer) came. They didn’t even talk to me. My representatives came as a messenger pigeon. I'm not the type of guy to get messages. After everything I’ve done, I still have to stand by and wait for a fight I won? I found it a little unpleasant.

"I will say it again: I’m really disappointed with the way they have treated me, very upset with all that," he continued. "I was not the one who said I was the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Dana said that. Maybe he said that to promote the event or because he really thought that. We will never know the truth. The fact is that everything I’ve done, no one else could do. I won’t want to be cocky or arrogant or think I’m the best, but what I’ve tried to do all those years was to show I was different from the others. And that’s not my opinion, but everyone’s."

Ain't even mad at the UFC regarding Silva, dude is trash and hasn't won a fight in 4 years. Pissed hot too, putting everything he's done into question.

 You are such a hater. I always imagine your comments coming from an old man sitting on his porch and add in "You guys don't know anything, I fought/fight so let me tell you how it was back in the good days," at the start. Anderson Silva is trash, let's just forget everything he accomplished

I apologize if you're a Silva fan, but they've done plenty for him throughout his career and now he wants to speak out because he has become irrelevant.

You don't have to agree, but when you piss hot your whole legacy comes into question. Especially when you piss hot multiple times.

UFC isn't mistreating Brazilians, USADA is catching up to a lot of them.

Except he's not irrelevant based on being offered an in for bisping.hendo

Dude is still plenty talented

His losses are just like Penns, ubderstandable

What's the last fight Silva won?? I'd be lying to you if I say I've been impressed with Silva as of late. Can't even name a fight w him I'd be interested in watching. Sorry not sorry

Idk about irrelevant but I def don't see him winning many more fight....who's next for Silva?? CM Punk might give silva a win

Anderson won the fight but didn't win in the sport fight. Anderson was far too inactive for most of that fight. When he did land it was devastating.

I generally judge a fight on who i would rather be. In this fight I would rather be Silva but Bisping was active and did just enough to squeak by. Think tortoise and the hare.

He's past his prime and without PEDs, he's more or less irrelevant competition-wise. He got offered to fill in based on one of his last fights being against Bisping. They can sell the rematch angle if Hendo was out or the battle between old men forced off of PEDs.

All time great Stephan Bonnar.

Yeah. Anderson Silva is irrelevant. You're right

What can he do other than be a back up or gatekeeper at this point? He's irrelevant in my opinion based on that and his past PED usage.
