The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Yup Anderson and Shogun will be doing a TUF. I hope Anderson just retires tbh, I don't even really need to see him fight again, unless he comes out and definitively states that he's attempting to make one more title run. If not and he's just sort of floating around, it wouldn't matter to me if he just retired

The MMA Hour today had tons of guests

Weidman, Ed Soares, D. Johnson, Benson Henderson, Gilbert Melendez, Rashad Evans, Cesar Gracie and Mike Dolce. Great guest list

Wow @ Silva's and Diaz's pay checks. That's like half of the purse.

No wonder McMann was driving around in that old Camry. Miesha making peanuts. But the fighters can't advertise sponsors on fight night.

For women's MMA, McMann actually made a decent amount. I mean, who really checks in for them? If she fights 3 or 4 times that's a solid year. Depending on her expenses, I feel like it'd amount to the average job. Not to mention whatever she makes from the sponsors. She should definitely be able to afford a new car though

I wonder if she has past debt. She seems to own a home so that's good

Meisha IMO makes a lot for Women's MMA. She's also sponsored by big companies

McMann made more than McCall, who also got a chunk of Lineker's purse.

Crazy. I was actually checking for that fight too.

McCall gets paid literal dirt

for being one of the better fighters in his division that's pretty amazing. After that fight though I think his contending days are over so it looks like his money making opps are down the drain

McCall is supposed to be from some wealthy family so maybe he's one of those dudes that fight cause they like it and not for the money.

I mean regardless, 16K for a veteran like McCall, the #3 ranked guy.. that's pretty amazing

Al Iaquinta hopefully didn't screw himself either with the low contract he signed.. he seems ready to make a decent run

Just goes to show you that MMA has a ways to go...

Unless you're a loud mouth or champ, you're not really making money.

Compare that to the league minimum contracts in other sports via a sloppy quick Google search ($500K NHL, $435K NFL, $500K NBA, $500K MLB). MMA/UFC still has to grow from a revenue and fan base perspective. And these fighters unlike the other "leagues" have no collective bargaining.

Dude has been fighting for more than 10 years. That's terrible. Regardless of family affluence, the ROI for his career is not worth it.

Nobody want to see Munoz or Romero get a chance at an interim belt

I used to be a big Mousasi fan but nowadays I don't give any dambs about him

Belfort need to just wait Weidman out. If Belfort takes a fight, he won't be ready to fight for a while and the real belt will be on hold for much longer

Munoz should be retired but Romero would be a legit opponent for an interim shot.
The only reason I say Romero doesn't deserve it is because of the Kennedy fight. I would like to see Romero get one more big win then he can fight for the actual real title IMO

Make sense?

With Assuncao officially out, the time has never been more "now" to make Edgar vs. Faber. Nothing else really makes sense for both guys.
